For 2d, I really like using The Art of Flight. Gorgeous looking snowboard film that JVC was using recently to show off their projectors if that tells you anything. Pure demo material for A/V (video more than audio IMO, but the audio is fantastic as well). Avatar is another safe bet for either 2d or 3d.

For strictly 3d, Sammy's Adventure if you can get a hold of it is one of the best. Madagascar 3 is another fantastic 3d disc. Hugo is fantastic as well. Under the Sea is another great 3d must own disc IMO.

Lots of good choices for both 2d and 3d, but all those immediately come to mind.

Avatar was great in 3d (saw it in 2:35.1 cropped version in reald 3d when it was in theaters) and in 2d bluray. Hugo was great in 3d. I watched Final Destination 5 on demand from hbo hd (cropped) and thought the 3d was pretty good. Seems that when i watch a 3d movie on a big tv, there are grid lines. This is not the case with watching a 3d movie in a 4k/2k cinema (more like imax 3d digital). Why is that?

Grid lines? I have not spent much time with 3d on flat panel sets (I am setting up a 65" VT50 today though ironically and will get to test some 3d as well), but I am projecting a 9' wide image for 3d on my HP 2.8 screen and have not seen any type of grid lines with the RS40, 45 and BenQ W7000 projectors. I have seen other 3d related issues, mainly ghosting and flicker on the JVC units, but not grid lines. What are you seeing exactly as I am curious to look out for this when I fire up the VT50 today.
