Got my copy today. Outstanding transfer. Head and shoulders above the DVD version. Technicolor looks wonderful. Little bit of noise in the picture but otherwise sharp as a tack. Seeing detail that I never saw before. Mono DTS sounds good spare a few noisy passages. My favorite John Wayne movie. If you are any sort of fan of this movie it is a must buy.

Only drawback...and it might be a big one for some...no subtitles or CC.

It's about time. I had never seen anything remotely resembling a good print until TCM broadcast a pretty good one a year or two back.

Actually this release is from Olive films. Never had a BD from them. Looks like they did a great job with the 4k transfer. However the lack of subtitles and CC seems odd.
Thanks,

... for some weird reason I got this release mixed up with HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY.

QUIET MAN will also be my first BD from Olive Films, looking forward to it!

Watched it last night with the wife. Absolutely blows the dvd away. Finally a decent release. A family favorite, grew up with the VHS, it was like watching it for the first time all over again. Here's hoping we can get Donovan's Reef, Father Goose, and Operation Petticoat at some point too.

Decent, yes. Correct, no. Contrast way too light and it just doesn't have the IB Technicolor look - and, as Mr. Robert A. Harris says, it easily could. Some registration problems which would have been easy to fix, but for me it's the milky contrast. Anyone who has seen a dye transfer print of this film will know right away that while this IS a miracle compared to the absolutely heinous and hideous previous home video incarnations, it could be so much better.
