I'm not usually a fan of these kinds of things but that looks pretty damn cool. Definitely got to be a serious fan of these movies (or comics) to buy into this.

EDIT: Erm... not so much after watching the unboxing video.

Same. That thing is made way to cheap. $200 for 60-80 $ worth of movies. Could have at least made it to be something of better quality.

This is 149.49 at Amazon. Depending how limited this set is I wouldn't wait too long, who knows what they will fetch on the secondary market. Scalpers wait in the wings...

"Bring out yer dead!".."Wait I'm not dead yet!"..(Sound Austrian here) "WRONG !!" (You know what happens next..)

Figured something like this would come out after I purchased all 5 films individually.... Regardless, usually you save money by purchasing the set, in this case I'd be paying at least an extra 50-75 dollars for a cheap case and some bonus footage. Count me out.

We were led to believe it was a high quality case (ie metal) but there was a kerfuffle with the prop case designer (the case they used for the prop sells for hundreds of dollars and this was cheaper) so they changed the case... maybe to plastic... oh well I'm still in

As a fan I pre-ordered this set many months ago. Now that the time has finally come I'm sitting at work knowning the package was delivered by Amazon today but the general opinion online seems to be of cheap packaging. After such a long wait from the original announcement I am holding on to hope that perhaps it is not as bad as people make it out.

its ok, its pretty sturdy ABS plastic, the light stays on as long as the case is open with no way to turn it off and the handle on the brief case is functional but only for cosmetic purposes as i cant fit my hand in it. so far the archives disc is nothing special trying to find the phase 2 preview stuff that was one of the reasons i bought the set instead of the individual movies. the discs are packaged in slipcovers kind of like what cds came in in late '90s(or it could just have been the star wars SE and jurassic park 2 soundtracks) but they are very sturdy and most likely wont damage easily. i personally would have liked the case to have been made out of the same materal that they use for steelbook bluray cases but for the most part it seems like the movies was placed in a publicly unacceptable/non PC play set that should included a toy gun and an eyepatch.
for anyone wondering the case is about a foot wide 9 inches tall and 4 thick. was going to do an unboxing but im far too lazy and i only have my phone camera.
also if anyone can link me to some custom, non-watermarked cover art for the movies that will fit two 5 disc bluray cases that would be greatly appreciated as i dont think the slipcovers would fit on my shelf(ive had the thing since VHS tapes and its almost out of space)

That IGN unboxing video is the worst ever. Throwing the contents around, not knowing what he's talking about, total fail. Not to mention the overall poor quality of the item(s) = wait for a price drop.

I'll save $50 and go with this. Much better case, a knife, and plenty of stogies for more entertainment than those terrible movies provide:

Wasn't all the 3D post-converted anyway and didn't rate all that highly in reviews?

I'm sticking to my individual 2D purchases that exclude Hulk because I can't stand continuity changes.

Are you referring to Avengers 3-D? It was shot 2-D, but the 3-D was really good for a post-conversion from what I've heard. In the commentary track, Joss Whedon stated that he set up his shots with the intent to post-convert, so that would explain the positive reviews. I haven't seen the 3-D version because, quite frankly, I don't give a **** about 3-D.

I'm not sure how to interpret your second sentence. This pack doesn't include Ang Lee's "Hulk" which is not part of this continuity, but it does include "The Incredible Hulk" which is part of this continuity - just with a different actor than is featured in Avengers. So if you buy the pack, you'll be "safe".

Changing an actor is the sort of continuity disruption that I despise, unless it absolutely positively can't be avoided (such as in the death of the original actor).

I don' t recall any of the 3D reviews of any of the component Marvel movies being glowing, mainly because it is all post-converted. IMO, if you are going to do 3D then do it properly or don't bother with expensive post-processing, because the automatic algorithms in TVs for converting 2D->3D are probably about as good.

Hum, does seem overpriced, unless you find it at a bargain price. All movies are great in 2D, haven't watched any of them in 3D, yet.
