I've noticed indications that the Superman Anthology boxset may now be OOP as Best Buy no longer carries it. Anyone know anything about this? New one coming out before Man Of Steel perhaps?

... or after (or w/the) 'Man of Steel' release...

"I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though."
"Are these comfirmed to have slipcovers?"
"They look nice in those slips."
"This slipcover looks too good to pass up."

I think it is doubtful that Warner Bros. makes material changes to the existing Superman Anthology release, other than re-releasing it with movie money or something for the upcoming Man of Steel in the future. WB will often pull relevant Blu-rays from the market before a new release for the brand or franchise, to clear the retail channels of existing product and lessen confusion. They did the exact same thing with the '90s Batman films before The Dark Knight Rises, only to make them available again in the same form a few months after that movie saw release.

The set is now available again. Picked it up at Best Buy for $50. No new content. Looks like they were stockpiled for the holidays instead of WB keeping them on the shelves.

I wouldn't double dip ever on this. Most people have the anthology and The Man of Steel. What would get me to possibility rethink about double dipping would be if they restored all the 17 Superman cartoons onto BD, like they should have done when they released the anthology the first time around!

...finally retired and spending time in my HT!!!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm actually only interested in the theatrical Superman: The Movie, and the boxed set was always pretty steep for one film, so I haven't bit before now. I doubt it'll get any cheaper than this, though.

Those cartoons are in the public domain. The Hollywood studios have no intention of spending serious money on products they don't control 100%. We should probably be happy they decided to release their version on DVD.

Come on WB, you own the original elements, we'll buy 'em if you restore 'em!!!

They have restored/remastered the cartoons but just haven't released them in any HD media format. Probably because others beat them to it.

The only "others" you mean is the ones that took the Winstar PD prints and tried to pass them off as HD.
