Just for those interested, here's the list for the corrected disc. I've just checked it against the old version:

1. Opening credit timing - UNCORRECTED. Same timing as the prior blu-ray.

2. Shell colors at concert - UNCORRECTED. Still blue, not green.

3. Fade when Ariel first visits Scuttle - CORRECTED. It is now a fade instead of a cut as it should be.

4. Part of Your World scene / flipped shots - CORRECTED. Shots are in the proper order again.

5. Hand of servant in wrong place as Ariel and Eric go off on the chariot - UNCORRECTED.

6. Torn film when Eric and Ariel leap from huge Ursula - UNCORRECTED.

I really don't think the Disney Animation department has had the grand re-tooling that a lot of us hoped for under PIXAR's Lasseter. It's still all about being cheap and fast... oh, and having a restoration team who knows next to nothing about the films they're working on.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!

I'm late to the party, but I will be calling them when I get home about getting replacement discs.

Creatively I certainly think they did; most of the Disney Animation films since Lasseter took the helm have been amazing (Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen.)

And yet the titles mentioned are still quite formulaic and not exactly pushing new boundaries like in the early PIXAR films. Toy Story 1&2, especially, had very obvious adult humor. They didn't seem to care that most of the jokes went right over the kids' heads. Now they're more dumbed down and safer. Brave was probably the dullest and most bland PIXAR film to-date, and yet it won an Oscar! rolleyes.gif

I still haven't received my mailer to send back the discs to Disney. It's been almost four weeks. Normally the mailers take a week or two to arrive.

I received my replacements yesterday.
They never sent a mailer, only a questionnaire, and an address to send the questionnaire with the disks back. They also asked I include the manufacturers case. I did this on Jan 2, 2014.
My disks were from the 3D combo pack.

Embarassing Question...Little Mermaid Blu-Ray

So I confess to being a 41 year old man who has a thing for red headed mermaids, okay? So leave me alone

Anyways, my family and I decided to start building our Disney blu-ray collection and the first movie we bought was The Little Mermaid. I was sort of disappointed when it came in 16:9 assuming that there was a theatrical release in 2.39:1 but the more I look into it the more I think there are no 2.39:1 versions of TLM?

Anyone help me out with this?

According to the IMDB it is not a scope ratio film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097757/technical

Did you see it that way in the theater?

As a fan of silent women, I've also always enjoyed this film. LOL

I don't recall it being 'scope either.

Honestly not sure I ever saw it in the theater. I just can't remember seeing a film ever that wasn't 2.39:1 but I confess I only understood the difference about 5 years ago.

I did. It was presented in 1.85:1 in the theaters. It was never 2.39:1. The negative is actually 1.66:1.
