I hope this is the correct forum to post this question...
I have quite a collection of Blu-rays, and I read that a lot of people rip their Blu-ray collection to a central media server for easier access.
My questions are mostly regarding the audio of the Blu-ray:
1. Ripping the Blu-ray obviously means compressing video & audio? Does the ripped file still have the original Audio decoding for example DTS Master Audio, Dolby True HD...?
2. What software do you guys use to rip the Blu-rays?
3. What software do you use to play your Blu-rays?
I've seen .mkv is a popular file type to use. Can this file type retain the original audio decoding?
I just don't see the point of having all my Blu-rays on a central server, if they didn't retain their original Audio decoding. It's all about the SOUND!
