Mick Jackson's 1997 disaster movie will erupt on Blu-ray in October.

In an early announcement to retailers, Starz/Anchor Bay is working on 'Volcano' for Blu-ray on October 1.

Mike Roark (Tommy Lee Jones), head of Los Angeles' Office of Emergency Management, teams up with seismologist Dr Amy Barnes (Anne Heche) when an explosion underground kills some construction workers. It transpires that the building of a tunnel has sparked off volcanic activity beneath the city, and soon the streets of LA are flowing with lava. As the city plunges into chaos, Roark's teenage daughter Kelly is caught up in the catastrophe.

Specs, supplements, and a suggested list price have yet to be revealed.

You can find the latest specs for 'Volcano' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under October 1.

This was one of those great DTS action flicks back in the day with a kick-ass Skywalker Sound mix by some big talent, so it's gonna sound beasty with lossless audio. Can't wait to see it on Blu!

Have the HD version on Vudu (DVD upgrade). Looks fine, nothing special.

My opinions do not reflect the policies of my company
