Depalma's BODY DOUBLE, a ridiculously bad movie, has been released on BluRay from a 4k transfer and it is smoking. Apparently someone forgot toe erase the grain because this puppy looks like film. Body Double has always looked good, undoubtedly due to the lens choices and lack of fog filters Depalma used in his earlier work. But the BluRay reaches new heights. Suffice to say, I had zero issues.

The audio is also strong. Dated, but never ever distracting, unlike some films from that era. How sad that The Terminator was made the same year and yet the fool at Orion wouldn't pony up 35 grand to cover the cost of a stereo mix.

The extras from the 2002 DVD are included here and all worth watching.

Yes, it is a terrible film and fairly insulting to the intelligence. It's also so bad you cannot look away. Enjoy! biggrin.gif

I'm a little perturbed my order hasn't shipped yet from Screen Archives and shows as still pending even though I placed it almost a month ago.

They haven't received all of the stock yet, another batch is expected to arrive at SAE this week and remaining orders will be processed.

Notwithstanding it's alleged flaws, my preference would always be to watch Body Double, Brian De Palma's homage|remake, rather than Hitchcock's 'original', Vertigo. cool.gif

Well that too and according to the extras she did all of her nude 'double' scenes. cool.gif

Interesting . . . a number of years ago I watched a tv interview with Deborah Shelton who played Gloria Revelle. IIRC at that time, she said the dances Craig Wasson sees through a telescope were actually performed by an unnamed dancer, and not by any of the (credited) actresses. The tv show was about "uncredited body and voice doubles" having to sign perpetual non-disclosure contracts...?! cool.gif

Yeah, I liked it back in the 80s, but I've since grown up...! I wonder if DePalma ever has.

If ever a movie qualified as a "guilty pleasure" this is it.

I do wonder how many of the discs TT/SA sold to folks intending to make money on the resale (all are sold-out, probably were sold-out before the release date). Has Twilight Time ever said "wow they sold fast we're making another 3,000 of them" or something?

Their licensing contract does not allow for that possibility. I've always thought they should negotiate for a possible 1000 extra copies if the first 3000 sold out, but I think the 3000 number is consciously picked by some studios due to certain royalty issues being triggered at differing levels of units sold.

They probably could have done it with Fright Night, let alone Christine, but AFAIK it's just one-run-and-done for all their releases thus far. (EDIT: if it's a contractual thing as said above then they're stuck...and so are we.)

...and I need your sweet love, Latina T-Mobile girl!

They actually press about 3500 copies, they've said as much.
"Print Overruns" they called it.

No doubt to handle returns, defectives, lost-in-shipments, etc.

Anyway, after a few weeks or months we'll find this somewhere for $4.99 I'm sure ... wink.gifrolleyes.giftongue.gif
