The movie is 2.24:1 because of DCI cropping. 2.39/2048*1920 = 2.24. As a matter of fact, every scope movie sourced from a DCI master (which means every contemporary movie) has at best a width of 2.24. The ones that don't are cropped again vertically to get a 2.39 aspect ratio.
I tried to raise the issue, but apparently nobody cared: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1451171/why-ultrahd-is-not-4k/30#post_23522664

Guys - please post when your Frozen 3D arrives. Seems everyone posting here was given the same blanket April 9th date. Will be interesting to see if gets to some of us a few days before.

Got mine today. Exactly when it said in email. Once again had to resort to buying oversea's because a disc had a better release or earlier release. It's a shame but the content providers are determined to put the final wreath on 3d. I have little faith in 4k and am surprised we are still not watching tv on a 12" black and white round tube RCA tv using an antenna.

Hey Guys, I found a way around getting Disney's Frozen in 3D.  Go to Amazon.co.uk which is Amazon's UK site. They have it there and you want the seller to say REGION FREE. This means the back of it says ABC for regions, A, B, and C.

It was 18lbs for me and then 3lbs shipping so price plus shipping when converted to US was $31 which is roughly what a 3D costs without shipping so its a good deal.

It was released in 3D in the UK on 3/31, and I got it today on 4/7.

I just put it into my 3D Blu ray and its AMAZING y'all.  Its snowing in my living room!!! Love it!!!

So do that and you get around it :D and the UK site will let you use your US login so win win!

Is it safe to assume that others are still waiting on theirs? My packages sometimes get delivered to other people's houses with similar addresses so this lack of tracking info bothers me. How someone in Louisville got theirs a week ago and I still haven't gotten concerns me (I'm in Broomfield).

I got mine a few days ago. This is a reference quality 3D disks that you will want to use to demonstrate 3D. I guess Disney feels that 3D is dead in the US. It is too bad that so many bad films have been released in 3D. and have turned off many people. This is truly an exception with great 3D pop, and 7x1 DTS Audio. It is worth the wait. Glad that they did release it region free in the UK.

I suspect Disney will go for a double dip by releasing the 3D version (with the sing-along version as a pack-in) for the Christmas shopping season, perhaps with extras, which the current release is sorely short of.

Agreed. It will probably be a set similar to the upcoming LEGO MOVIE release, with a 3D disc included a deluxe set.

Not sure if I quite agree. The 2-D image is fabulous, as is the sound but I thought the 3-D image fell into the "restrained" category. Snow is usually something that looks really impressive in 3D, but I never really felt that it was coming out of my screen. I'd use the "Polar Express" to demo 3-D snow over Frozen.

Don't get me wrong, the 3-D presentation is smooth but not something I'd use to try and wow someone who's seeing 3D for the first time. Probably the most pop-out 3-D moment was in the opening scene with the ice-saws cutting through the ice toward the "submerged" viewer.

Are we not past the "the only good 3-d movies are ones with lots of pop-out" arguments?

Heh.. you haven't been to the 3D forums lately, have you? That one will never die.

I thought the 3D was fine. It popped out when it needed to, and didn't when it didn't need to.

Well, seeing as it is October now, I'm going to say it's not happening. We would have heard about it before now.

I was hoping maybe someone had some inside info and that maybe it was just pushed back closer to the holidays. Really annoying that they didn't release it in the US already, I guess I just need to keep holding out and hoping they release it at some point.

I too was hoping to hear that the October date was going to happen, but given the lack of noise from the biggest marketing group in the world I'm guessing this ain't happening, unless someone has heard different.

Isn't the 3d version region-free? Just buy the UK one... or whatever region-free one is cheapest.

If you need a 3-D edition for Maleficent, that one can be had from Mexico. Disney is largely abandoning 3D releases in the United States on home video.

I have stopped buying all disney releases, even 2d ones and writing reviews on amazon saying so until disney stops screwing US 3d tv owners over. I just rent it 1 time from redbox.

Rebels was released only in DVD in NA from what I can tell. I could care less about stereovision disney products but no BD? Ugh. Disney did put out the last Clone Wars season thankfully.

Well, looks like THE FINEST HOURS, Disney's new action movie which was in IMAX 3d is only getting a 2D release.

Can I please ask everybody on this thread to start to make some noise? You can post on Disney Blu-ray Facebook page about their 3D policy, maybe if enough people took a few minutes it would hit someone who actually cares at the studio.

Link to Disney Blu-ray Facebook Page to make a post:

https://www.facebook.com/Disney-Blu-Ray-341497576030/

Here is the contact form on Disney's website, please fill this out about their 3D policy:

https://www.disneystudioshelp.com/contact-bddvd.html

Here is the phone number of the Walt Disney Company ask for their DVD and Blu-ray department and talk to someone (in a friendly way) about how we want their 3D titles (I think this number is current):

(818) 560-1000

Here is another Disney contact: Select "Other" and continue to fill out the forms.

https://help.disney.com/en_US/Disney...e=Disney-Video

This seems to be the correct email for Bob Iger, head of Disney, send him an email about releasing 3D blu-rays"

robert.a.iger@disney.com

And take 10 minutes and print out a letter, it is known that these people are much more apt to read a real printed letter than an email:

Bob Iger, President
Walt Disney Studios
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, CA 91521

If we all take some time to do this, imagine how many requests there could be from Facebook, emails, snail mail, ect. We have to keep pushing and take a pro-active stance. PLEASE everyone, lets see if we can get our voice heard by ALL people wanting Disney 3D blu-rays!

Might be good to also contact Susan McClain who is the person that instituted the 3D ban. I don't have an e-mail but here's her LinkedIn page:
