The Good, the Bad and the Ugly has been remastered in 4k. The new color transfer is very controversial, in that it applies a strong yellow push to most scenes with some contrast boosting that crushes shadow detail. The studio claims that a reference answer print was consulted to determine this new look. Many fans are skeptical. Other than those issues, the transfer has much better detail than the old Blu-ray without the heavy DNR problems.

The other two movies are the same transfers used on Blu-ray previously. Which is acceptable since those two were never as problematic as Good Bad Ugly.

The film scan itself is vastly better in the new remaster. However, I think the next remastered edition (presumably for whatever 4K format comes around) will have yet another color grading.

I took a risk and bought the new set. IMO the detail upgrade for GBU was worth the $18 on its own, despite the color tweaking. Color is often correctable on the user end... detail not so much.

I agree... WELL WORTH the 18$ imho. Some of the close ups look absolutely three dimensional.

Seeing as this is leone's vision, I doubt we will see a color correted version. Think
O brother where art thou.
