I went and ordered the steel book 3D version. I really want a 4K version, but I think we may be waiting a while for that to happen.

Is the 3D version available on Amazon UK really going to be region locked? Episode VII wasn't. I found it to be cheaper to order it that way.

Still not available for preorder at Amazon. This bums me out because there are a few other BRDs I was planning on ordering with it. Poop.

I don't really understand it either. Dr Strange was the same way. It must be that Disney has some issue with Amazon.

There's evidently some disagreement between them about pricing.

What I really want is 3D + 10-bit HDR version of this movie.

I wonder if when the UHD 2D HDR version comes out, it might be possible to re-encode each 3D frame with some kind of un-tonemapping.

Or do it the other way, get the 3D -> 2D difference encoding from the 1080p version, and somehow apply that on the 4K HDR version somehow to get 4K HDR + 3D. (one can do 4K HDR 3D with dual projectors, from a PC).

Regular Blu for me... 3D doesn't impress me, and I actually hate the way steelbooks look in my media drawers. Just wish Disney would do UHD.

Just ordered mine from Target. Have a Mit 65738 DLP 3D TV and Panny 210 3D player for the last 4 years. Just recently bought 2 pairs of 3D glasses and was totally thrilled.

Thrilled so much that I just purchased an Epson 6040 3D PJ and 3D player. Watched AVATAR 3D this afternoon in the HT and it's meant to be watched on a big screen!

Not sure if I want to rebuy the last Star Wars in 3D.

I can't speak for everyone here but, I enjoy 3D on the 130 inch screen in our theater. It is spectacularly immersive and helpful in many films, particularly animated, Sci-fi and some action films look marvelous in 3D. What I don't like is being short changed on the audio track that often doesn't include the Atmos or DTS X track. We need to let the studios know that we're on to this and not going to take it anymore.

Amazon is in the middle of another petty dispute with Disney, and has shut down preorders from the studio. The disc will open up for sale on street date.

This has been happening a lot lately.

If and when Disney gets off their butts and releases UHD Blu-ray discs, they'll probably have Dolby Atmos.

However, this film's Atmos mix was surprisingly and disappointingly tame for its subject matter.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!

The Amazon situation is perplexing. Today is the street date and they still don't have R1 listed other than via 3rd party sellers.

https://www.amazon.com/Rogue-One-Sta...1310452&sr=1-3

Edit: As of 1pm Eastern, Amazon now has their own listing for the BR/DVD/Digital, but it is out of stock.

It's really too bad Disney are (as usual) dragging their heels with 4K UHD and immersive audio. They're gearing up for their double/triple-dip strategy, I'm sure.

The 3D copy should look pretty good, I'm hoping

I often wonder how Walt would feel about how $$ grabbing at the cost to the customer loyalty his company has become? Guess it doesn't matter; it is what it is. It seems enough of us are willing to double/triple dip as well as stand in lines for stupid amounts of time at the Parks.

At 60 I still love Disneyland, but these days I time it as strategically as possible.

See ya. Dave
