I was watching Kingdom of Heaven last night, and during one scene , I noticed a strange pink rectangle in the upper left corner of the picture. It was translucent and appeared for about 5 seconds. I wanted to post this last night, but I didn't have a chance, so I 'm not sure of the exact time, but I know it was about 1hour and 31 minutes into the movie. If I had to guess, I think it was 1:31, and 20 seconds. Did anyone else see this?

EDIT: Its at 1:14:31

I backed up the scene last night, and it was still there. I will get the exact timecode on my lunch break.

Sorry to highjack this thread, but I have a different Kingdom Of Heaven Blu-ray question:

Is the Director's Cut the only version of KOH on BD?
I was going to rent from Neflix but the picture there is the theatrical version, yet websites only list the Director's Cut as a Blu-ray for sale.....

Thanks,
Rob

Marc.

I have the same movie and I don't recall ever seen anything like that.

If you continue to see this "pink rectangle" maybe you should see a doctor or something.

KEEP BOTH FORMATS ALIVE!
This translates to better PQ & AQ.

Marc, did you ever get a timecode?

I checked it out tonight and it's clearly there at 1:14:31 (1 Hour 14 minutes and 31 seconds) and it lasts for about 8 seconds. On the far left of the screen. It stars at the edge of the black and reaches down into about 20% of the picture. It's only in that shot. The second the shot changes, it disappears. I'll grab a screenshot tommorow when I get my digital camer back from my girlfriend.

BTW, I finally finished watching KOH tonight, and it's one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in years!

EDIT: Oh snap! You're right! Its so faint that you can barely see it. But yeah there is a pink rectangle in the upper left. I'll be a sonofagun.

You have to look really really closely to see it. And I imagine some people might not see it at all depending on the gamma settings of their display and so forth.

See! See!

It's almost like some sort of encoding error. Very strange.

Again the pink rectangle is transparent and is very very faint. You will have to look closely. And its all the way in the top left corner of the picture.

I can see it too. PS3, seen on both 1080i and 480p.

And you wonder why no one noticed the pink rectangle before?

To me, it's cleary visible on my properly calibrated Plasma set. It was easy to spot on my first viewing. I would think others would have noticed it also.

The Blu-ray contains only the Director's Cut. However, it is missing the overture and intermission found on the DVD and runs 189 min. rather than 194.

Now if it was a pink triangle, i'd think it actually meant something. Maybe that will appear sometime during Alexander director's cut!

It could just be a digital cue from editing. I know when I ran projectors at movie theaters, there was always a visual cue at the end of a reel. I still see them from time to time on DVDs.

I saw a compression artifact when Dr. Bashir and Legolas were riding to Jerusalem. We pan from them to the entrance to the city. In the middle of that pan I saw some brief macro blocking. Anyone else notice this?

If people are noticing these minor things, I think it would be honorable to remove it from Tier 0 into Tier 1.

The Tier threads are a completely joke. Am I the only one who noticed all the edge enhancement on this disc?

It's a nice-looking disc, but really goes the show the fallacy of the ridiculous Tier system.

I didn't see the pink triangle either, but now I will hunt for it tonight.

So what is this triangle? Some sort of leftover mark from the editing process? Did they splice in a section from a tape that had pink markings?

No, DVDtalk is a complete joke.

It's a rectangle. The triangle comment was a joke referring back to a gay symbol from the 80's.
