After 20 mins of viewing or so, the transfer is exactly what I expected it to be. It's a fairly recent movie, so the print is squeaky clean. The blacks are deep, the colors are vivid, and the PQ is very smooth and filmlike. More along the lines of The Prestige than something like Crank, which has a lot of pop and vividness. I'm guessing it's a very accurate representation of the source material, and probably replicates the theatrical experience well.
I was more impressed with the sound, actually. I'm really beginning to love hearing uncompressed PCM on these blu ray releases. It's a talky pic, but the sound effects and music sounded like it should, rich and full, exactly what you'd expect from PCM.
If anything, this is just whetting my appetite for 007.
