Journey in Manila was on SD for about 2 yrs and now on BD, though it's pricey. http://www.amazon.com/Journey-Live-M...9772586&sr=8-2

Just watched the Billy Joel at Shea Stadium concert. The video is as good as it gets. Felt like I was right there most of the time. Excellent sound and concert itself was first rate for Billy Joel fans. I watched a little of this on our local PBS station here in Denver and it was like looking at a VHS tape. But the Blu-ray is a totally different story.

Anybody pick-up Heart's "Night at Sky Church"

picked it up yesterday.

Uncompressed stereo track is brilliant as is the 5.1 dolby digital track. However, the DTS HD Master 5.1 track is dull and muddy sounding.

Mistral Wind is a brilliant track...

Video is as good as 1080i gets.

Just not impressed with the DTS Master audio track...

please post your observations on the DTS track.

Equipment: Marantz SR8002, Sony BD, Yamaha towers front, yamaha center, polk rears and Sony Sub.

It's great that Concert for George is headed our way on BD to join my already zable collection of classic rock on concert BD. Unfortunately, not enough (relatively) new and emerging artists appear on concert BDs:

Arcade Fire
Mumford & Sons
Decemberists
Ray LaMontagne
Lady Antebellum
Joe Bonamassa
Avett Brothers

To name but a few...

I know, the answer is obvious, there is not enough of a market for some of these artists to justify the production costs. It's too bad there isn't a grass roots type distributor to release quality hi-def/hi-res performances by emerging artists. Hard to grow a fan base if nobody hears/sees your music performed. BD is a wonderful medium to archive good music.

Received my copy of the Concert For George BD set today. Did quite a bit of non-critical viewing of an assortment of the features. All features and extras are presented in the original 1080/60i HD video and look great. The DTS-MA audio is crystal-clear. One 5-min bonus feature has been added called "Drummers". The 2-disc set has the same layout as the DVD set with the entire evening's 2.5 hr program on one disc and the theatrical release plus bonus features on the other disc. The included booklet is similar to the DVD version.

If you're asking about Concert For George, it's not region locked and is also non-Java.

So what did you think? I used to be a big fan, but not so much lately.

Reviews are pretty good. Seriously considering picking it up.

I picked up the Rory Gallagher Irish Tour 74 disc today and imho it's pretty good[the sq's great the pq's on a par with the Song Remains The Same]the only problem is I had trouble getting the disc to play on my Samsung BDP 1500 player[had to press play to get it to load].

If a movie or concert video or a TV show isn't on blu ray it darn well should be.

Picked up AC/DC's new live Blu-ray release, Live At River Plate and watched it tonight.

Easily the best of the live Brian Johnson era complete concert home video releases. Absolutely top notch video and sound. As always, has Angus and Malcom's guitars panned hard to the right and left channels. Also confirms what I thought when I saw them early on the Black Ice tour nearly 2 years ago, that Johnson hasn't sounded so good since the late 80's. Also, the Argentina stadium crowd is absolutely insane. I've seen hundreds of shows and even in packed clubs, much less an arena or stadium I've never seen an audience so into the band. Now I'm really looking forward to "Let There be Rock" coming out on Blu-ray in June.

My only real complaint is the lack of solid extras for this release, especially compared to some of the stuff on the Donnington blu-ray (like the multicam footage). There's a roughly 30 minute feature that focuses on the fans as well as some very short clips of the roadies and a few comments from the bands, but it's barely worth a single viewing and the full animated video that was played at the beginning of the shows on the video screens. It would have been nice to include the song "Anything Goes" as a bonus tune which was played the first year of the tour (but dropped by this show) mostly in arenas as well.

Just received Heaven & Hell Radio City Music Hall Live BD from Amazon. Great show, includes PCM Stereo, DTS-MA HD.

R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio

I won't be shy-

I picked up Lady Gaga "The Monster Ball Tour" and it's fantastic. Yes I'm 47 years old but after seeing her on the HBO special and reading a bit about her I have decided she is an incredible music talent. Writing her own music as well as an acomplished pianist I became quite intrigued.

There are a couple of piano tracks on this disk and she kills it. Sounds incredible on my sound system.

She may not be for everyone and at times I am not in the mood either but this disk is near the top of any concert I own from a video standpoint and the audio was quite spectacular as well in Dolby HD. If you also are in the mood for a stage show it has that too. If you did not see the HBO special and this is your first time at seeing Gaga and you are open-minded a bit you may want to check this one out.

Very much recommended...

Rick

Bb has the rush time machine br for 14.99. I realize that they are not everyone's cup of tea but this is an exceptional disk. It's a great performance with some rare tracks, the audio and video quality are first rate.

I just picked this up the other day. Another great Rush Blu-ray. I don't think the picture was quite as sharp as the R30 and Snakes and Arrows concerts but the sound was excellent. I found the picture just a bit softer than the other two.

Did either of you get this? I have this concert on DVD and was wondering if it's worth upgrading to the Blu-ray. I love the original Mindcrime album but wasn't all that impressed with Mindcrime II. As Queensryche concerts go I prefer some of their other releases.

Dream Theater released Live at the Budokan which I also have on DVD so that is another Blu-ray I'm thinking of picking up. That was a great DVD release.
