Synopsis: Based on true events, "We Are Marshall" tells the inspiring story of how a small town in West Virginia, steeped in the rich tradition of college football, struggled to cope with a devastating loss and restore their community after one of the worst disasters in the history of American sports. On the evening of Saturday, November 14, 1970, a chartered jet carrying Marshall University's football team, coaches and fans, was on its way home from a hard-fought game in North Carolina. Less than a minute before its scheduled landing at Tri-State Airport, the plane crashed in the Appalachian Mountains, killing everyone aboard: 37 players, eight coaches and university staff, the flight crew, and 25 prominent Huntington citizens who had made the trip as they always did to cheer their "Thundering Herd." In the aftermath of this stunning tragedy, university president Dedmon (DAVID STRATHAIRN) prepared to suspend the school's football program for the season--perhaps indefinitely. Assistant coach Red Dawson (MATTHEW FOX), who narrowly missed the ill-fated flight, couldn't face going back onto the field. But in Huntington, Marshall football has always been more than a sport: it's a way of life. And this town would rally to save it. After some initial setbacks, they found hope and strength in the leadership of outsider Jack Lengyel (MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY), a young coach determined to rebuild Marshall's football program and, in the process, help to heal the community. Less than a year later, on September 18, 1971, Marshall University's brand new Thundering Herd was poised to stage one of the greatest comebacks in collegiate sports. A raw, youthful and inexperienced squad, patched together under the guidance of Lengyel and Dawson, they would defy overwhelming odds just to march onto the gridiron for the school's first game since the accident. That season, it didn't matter whether Marshall won or lost.

Warner, I despise you more and more every single day. Please wise the hell up, and for the love of god, please don't apply all of your retarded policies to New Line when you bring them into the BD game.

Warner AND Paramount!!! They ALWAYS screw us in the audio department. Seriously, what the hell is the explanation for this??? I REALLY want to know!!! It's like, what tool said "hmm, wonder what audio we should give the BD version? How about regular DD?" "sound good to me!" I hate that crap. It's why I refuse to buy Paramount titles. Now if Paramount screws us on Saving Private Ryan I'm gonna have to go down to LA and knock some skulls!!!

Probably the BD-25 vs BD-50 cost thing...the film does run 131 minutes. And it's not exactly a "spectacle..."
OK, so it will only sound as good as it can in a movie theater...

Can I come ?

Seriously though. What is WRONG here? It's like Warner have a list of future Blu-ray releases on the wall, and they just throw a dart at it. Whatever release the dart lands on gets PCM/TrueHD. The rest will go with Vanilla Dolby Digital.

Paramount is really in its own league. Not ONE release on either side with lossless audio.

If future Paramount releases like Next and Shooter don't get some form of lossless audio, I'm skipping.

As I am now .

I went to Marshall and participated in a crowd scene that was shown, so I will be getting this. Also it will be a whole lot easier to find me than on a DVD.

I fear that they will make New Line do the same horrible things that Warner does.

Man... am I pissed

I'm not supporting this BS. I haven't bought a single WB or Paramount BD, no matter how much I like the movie. I'm simply not interested in titles without lossless audio.

I might still pick up The Departed and Blood Diamond because they are Warner titles that actually do have it, but that's it.

Warner themselves have stated that Blu-ray is 70% of their HD disc sales so that's unlikely to happen, even though every HDDVD fanboy like yourself wishes it would.

That's intersting. Blu-ray makes most of the money they make out of hi-def discs, yet they still give Blu-ray supporters the shaft.

Mind boggling.

The presence of a TrueHD track has also been confirmed on the box art pictured at DVD Empire.

My sister was an extra in quite a few scenes. Sounds like a crummy release, but at least I got it discounted at the WB store.
