I don't know how many out there are old enough to remember VHS and BETA video tapes, but I do. Way back when a movie came out on home video, the studios marketed it as "Now on VHS and BETA. Afterwards, when VHS beat out BETA, they marketed it as "Now on VHS". Then when DVDs showed up on the scene, they marketed it as "Now on VHS and DVD" and later on "Now on DVD". I've now seen a commercial for "Apocalypto" marketed as "Now on Blu-ray and DVD". The format has conquered.

Not sure how that negates my point........ Both next-gen formats have been marketed this way.

If it were only that simple. But, as others have pointed out, HD-DVD has the same taglines for some of their releases.

Of course Apocalypto would be advertised like that. Touchstone Pictures is Blu-ray exclusive.

It's like saying King Kong "Now on HD-DVD and DVD". The format has conqured.

COme on man.. I bleed blue too - but you do realize BV only releases on DVD and BR?

So if the 40 year old virgin advert states on DVD and HD DVD, does this mean the en of blu ray? Because I have an add that states that.

Wolfie, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

If you've followed woolfy's posts in the programming section, than his post here would come of no surprise. He's stolen a lot of people's time with his posts. Unfortunately, it's not illegal.

More hddvd trolls on here hoping and hoping that hddvd will beat BD. Why do they want this format war to go on forever? Can't we just get behind BD already?

Although the reasoning behind his opinion makes no sense, I am sure hopeful his conclusion is correct. Only one format is best and there is now way in the world HD DVD can win so I sure hope Blu-ray can find a way. Otherwise I believe we have redundant formats and neither ever amounts to much in terms of market share and software selection. A far too great percentage of the potential market avoids both as long as two exist. Affordable quality dual format players will help some, but don't solve the problem.

I'm having a hard time understanding the point you are trying to make. Your points are lost on me, due to the lack of sentence structure. There seems to be three sentences floating around in your single sentence.

I interpreted it as stupid. Both HD DVD and Blu-ray have commercials that say "Now available on DVD and Blu-ray" and "Now available on DVD and HDDVD". This thread is completely useless.

He is only commenting on the fact that the commercial for the video release says "now available on Blu-ray disc and DVD" and not in the opposite order as usual. This "implies" a push for Blu-ray by BVHV.
