It's way better than SD.

You might have DVI instead of HDMI - as far as I know, there's really only one shape for the HDMI connectors. If that's the case, you'll just need and HDMI - DVI cable. Could you post the exact model number of your projector so we can look it up?

Edit - this discussion should really be taken to the HD DVD hardware forum.

I have an InFocus SP7210 - looking at their web site I see I need a $49 adaptor for HDMI from the "M1! input - is this going to be 100% HDMI compatible? I have seen various suggestions in the past that early HDMI interfaces were not compatible with later versions.

I will post my next reply (if any!) to the hardware forum - (is there a Blu-Ray hardware forum ??? !!! )

Hello,

My wife tried to watch The Prestige BR yesterday and the player doesn't want to read it. I checked the surface and it was like on the pics on page 1.
The box was still closed as we've never watched this film.
I'm in Belgium and I ordered this item on amazon USA so I think I can forget for any refund/replacement. This story + the fifth element ugly version makes me remember why I prefer HD-DVD. I have like all HD DVD and all BR available and the only movies that disapointed me with their quality, were BR. And this Prestige disc is 25$ I've just lost

LOL

I think the BD owners can handle the final "specks" as long as the HDdvd combo owners don't come "unglued"...

The Thread title needs to be changed to

"blu ray production problem on Prestige/Stranger than fiction"

Or something like that. We all know it is not "disc rot" and some kind of isolated production problem.

Sorry, we don't get to have title changes. Only if it's bad news for HD-DVD does it get changed or locked (Target, Blockbuster, etc...)

And you can get a FREE exchange on the Fifth Element. Does anyone know if you can get a free exchange for Prestige as well? I'm sure Paidgeek's got some info on how to do it since Sony knows about the problem.

Had any problems with any of the HD DVD combo discs? Not a single HD DVD with PQ that disappointed you? You must not own any catalog Universal titles.

1080p and lossless audio. EVERY BD should have them both.

And the combo issues and how bad Traffic looked steered me away from HD DVD.

No wait, it didn't.

The Fifth Element can easily be replaced for a remastered edition by contacting Sony, and this is an isolated production issue with 2 movies that the studios know about and will help rectify if you make them aware of your issue.

59 Blu-rays and counting...

I'm from Belgium and it seems they're not ready to change my BR of the Fifth Element...
I've never tried dvd side of combo version so I couldn't tell.
I should rephrase when I told that no HD DVD disapointed me, I should say that no BR's impressed me as much as HD DVD's. But that's not the topic here.
I take pictures of my Prestige and I post them in a minute

zorg,

have you seen Chicago, Pirates, Seven Years in Tibet, and The Patriot? These last two titles especially are easily some of the sharpest, most naturally detailed HD I've ever seen... regardless of "format". At least Sony turned the ship around since that (horrible) 5E debacle when they launched.

Thanks Zorg!

You know... in a few years that disc might be worth something on ebay...

Great photos of the famed manufacturing defect. You definitely got one!

Doesn't matter that you're in Belgium. Amazon's customer service is first rate so contact them and I'm sure that they'll send you a replacement free of charge.

You can go into your Amazon account and find a place for returns for your items. There's a place there for "reason for return" and you can enter your explanation there. They'll certainly replace this when you return it.

It took me like five minutes to find how to recclaim but I did it and received an answer this morning. That was quick.
They send me back The Prestige for free and I do not need to send my defect version, that's great!
For the Fifth Element, they told me I can return it but they also say I don't have due to the high shipping costs... So I asked them back what I have to do and then wait for an answer.
Anyway, as you guys said, it seems they know how to manage returns and refunds problems! I appreciate that!
