I've found quite a few lists online of US BD discs that will play in UK Blu-ray players but I haven't found one yet that does the reverse. I live in the UK but have a US PS3, so it would be a great help if someone could point me to an appropriate list. I've just opened an online rental account with Lovefilm and have a lot of Blu discs in my queue, but it would be a real pain if some of those Blu discs won't play in my PS3. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Amazon.com UK specs indicate the region coding (or all region). I live in USA and just purchased two titles indicated as all region and they play fine on my USA player. It would appear that the Amazon info is correct.

Basic rule of thumb for buying from the UK:

WARNER/PARAMOUNT - fine.

SONY/COLUMBIA - fine except for one or two early day-and-date releases before Sony dropped Region coding in Region B altogether (Click and i think Monster House were the only ones region-coded)

DISNEY / BUENA VISTA - fine for catalog releases, avoid day-and-date (Hollywoodland, The Guardian, Deja Vu etc.)

FOX - avoid, almost all discs are region-coded.

Same goes for buying from Australia where discs are often cheaper than in Britain incidentally, hope that helps you!

Thanks guys. I got my first rental yesterday - The Guardian, a Buena Vista title - and guess what? Region coding won't let it play . I take it then that The Guardian was a day and date release and not back catalogue? I also take it that there isn't a sticky anywhere or web page any where that I can check compatibility? I'll just have to be aware of Chief Brody's rules.

I'm beginning to wonder about the wisdom of taking out this rental agreement if many of the discs won't be able to play on my PS3. The number of BD discs, HD-DVD too for that matter (I also have an HD-A1), available in the UK is already a lot smaller than in the US, so if many of those are going to have issues I'll probably get through them all in a two or three months! Ah well, I can always cancel at any time.

^ It does! Thanks. However, that page says it's no longer being updated so it's already somewhat out of date.
