I've been seeing commercials for the DVD fairly regularly for the last few days...but no mention of Blu-ray. Were this coming from anyone besides Fox, I'd just shrug it off. A last minute postponement will really tick me off as I never had a chance to see it in the theaters...and didn't try very hard knowing it would be coming in high definition anyhow.

All of this science is hurting my brain!

I noticed that on a commercial last night. Coming to DVD, but no mention of Blu-ray disc.

this seems to be the first title we'd see from fox in a while. if it gets delayed i will have my doubts about the rest of titles they announced.

btw, i think you should use F4 instead of FF for Fantastic 4, FF is often synonomous (sp?) with Final Fantasy.

In the world of comic geekdom, FF has been the accepted abbreviation for the Fantastic Four for more than four decades....very nearly five. The video gamers can figure out the difference for themselves.

I noticed that last night and was very surprised.

Not to get off topic, but how good was this compared to the first? More action? Better story?

Has Fox ever advertised "blu-ray" in one of their commercials? I can't remember them doing so on Night at the Museum, Eragon, or The Devil Wears Prada, or Ice Age.

The general consensus seems to be that it's better than the first, but not great.

Personally, I thought it was about equal to the first one. Goofy fun, but nothing I'd want to rewatch. They seem to want to keep these movies on the sit-com level in terms of plot, humor, etc.

It's fine for what it is, but I can't help but be disappointed they didn't do more with it.

This will be released as scheduled. Fox would have to be beyond stupid if they canceled this title. The good thing is we'd be able to actually walk into our local Best Buy's or circuit's to pick this up because I know for sure that almost ALL of their catalog titles that are "scheduled" to release wont be available widely in those stores.

I also noticed that BD wasn't mentioned in the commercial. And it's supposed to be released next Tuesday(I think), and there are no reviews online. I hope this one is coming out, I missed seeing it theatrically and was looking forward to the BD.

There was also a FF BD release, F4 eliminates the confusion, even if the comics fans had first dibs on the term. Besides, there's a few million fans of FF ever since FF7, and some of them were also F4 readers.

According to Moretonbay at bluray.com (IIRC he's a retailer)
this title has been delayed:

-------------

I just rec'd this email this morning from my rep at one of my distributors.....

Fox is currently having manufacturing problems with all Blu Ray product,
which has delayed shipments on FANTASTIC FOUR:RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER BLU
RAY product streeting next week 10/2/07. Product has not shipped
yet....I'll keep you posted on ETA's as soon as I receive.

You've got to be f-ing kidding me!

Why is it that other studios manage to get stuff released, but Fox seems unable to do so? Something's going on here...

Ha Ha, Hey Murdoch, why is Blu-Ray better than HD DVD again?
I don't want to sound like a HDDVD fan boy, I am format neutral but how they can still be having problems a year later is beyond me.
First Die Hard 4 and now this?
I just don't understand Fox. They take a hiatus for some unknown reason, still insist on using the non supported DTS-MA, and can't meet street dates.

Maybe it wasn't all about money as far as Paramount was concerned.

I've seen products delayed because a new accounting program couldn't handle a product with a part number that had a particular character sequence in it. Unless you KNOW why the product is delayed, it doesn't mean squat.

I saw a commercial last night for it, and Blu-ray was mentioned at the end of it. Of course it only showed the two different SD DVD versions, but it was mentioned though.

why worry, if there is in fact a delay it's nothing out of the ordinary. no need to worry over things that you expect to happen.

So who do you think is at fault? The studio or the format? Surely it isn't the format's fault that Fox is using DTS-MA...

If Fox is to blame what makes you think the issues would be any better with HD DVD?

The manufacturing problem is probably that they can't manufacture with BD+ yet.

Well "Fox" is in there own little world... Doesn't matter what format they always manage to screw things up when it comes to just about everything! Not to mention they seem to let good shows go, that should still be around!

Come on Fox. It is past time that you step up to the plate and give us a BD release. I've placed pre-orders for many Fox movies, but time and again they get pushed back or canceled.

Bazinga!

This thread had me confused till I read your post. I agree. Should really use F4. Or better yet - just use Fantastic Four 2. Not too hard to type out and easily understood.

When ya start a thread like this, is it asking too much to spell out the movie title just once?

In real life I am Dot Mongur champion of the International Pacman Federation. I don't play the game, I operate it.....no dot is safe from me....
