what's included on sony discs is not the thx calibration screen. you get 4 test patterns and as far as i know the only thing you can really calibrate with it is brightness.
as for the thx calibration screen, the only title i know of is Terminator 2: Judgement Day. there's calibrations for contrast, brightness, and color.

Quick question, on the Terminator 2 disc, there is a THX optimizer menu. Do you guys think since it is a 1080p source it would be better than using the THX optimizer on a standard def disc? Any help here would be hot.
Good thing you put the LOL in there. Yes it will. However there is a free calibration disk you can download off of here and burn that will do more for you. Maybe a search on "calibration disk" might be in order.
Thank you very much. I know of the calibration easter egg on Sony Blu rays but I have a better understanding of the THX optimizer. I will check out the tests on AVS definately.
I have calibrated my settings dozens of times still haven't got it right yet. I drive the wifey crazy, so I need to get this done before I catch a bad one lol.
I guess the resolution (blu-ray vs dvd) doesn't really matter except for the sharpness test pattern. I used the thx optimizer on one of my dvd's to calibrate my dad's hdtv.
Are there any blu-ray's with the optimizer on the bd in 1080?

I can't seem to find which Blu-rays have the THX audio optimizer on them. I think my front right speaker and my center channel speaker's wiring are switched. I can't figure out how to do the test tone on my receiver and I'd rather find out how to test it through a Blu-ray since it would show me which speaker it's testing via lighting up an image of the speaker it's testing. Blu-rays I have. I have:
Fight Club
Risky Business
Office Space
Casino
Goodfellas
Hall Pass
Matrix 1-3(Ultimate Matrix Collection)
The Shawshank Redemption
Batman Begins
Fifth Element(Remastered)
Braveheart
Full Metal Jacket
The Godfather 1-3
Pulp Fiction (Polish import
Jackie Brown (Polish Import)
Inglorious Basterds
The Dark Knight
Casino Royale (collectors edition)
Quantum of Solace
Heat
Hangover
Man On Fire
Sin City
Alien
Aliens
Superbad
12 Monkeys
Knocked Up
Reservoir Dogs
Requiem for a Dream
Funny People
American Beauty
Boogie Nights
Avatar(standard 1 disc edition)
Apocalypse Now/Redux
Inception
Snatch
Kill Bill 1&2
Iron Man 1&2
I thought I saw on the thx.com website that Avatar was a THX certified release, but I didn't see the optimizer in the menu.
Anyone know if any of these titles have a THX Optimizer set up either in the menu or as a hidden Easter Egg?
What about the new Star Wars blurays? Any optimizers on them?
