The Brave One (Dolby THD) Tier 1

Crank this one up, and the dynamics will scare you.Don't be surprised if the cops shows up at your door, as someone just reported gunshots being fired in your house. Not a lot of surround use here other then ambience, but that's how real life is as well. Realism is what this track portrays as opposed to fancy "pirotechnics" sound found on many films featuring gunshots. Everything sounds cohesive, and balanced, and no distorsion or noise on the dialog tracks either. Wery well done, and very supportive of the film.

Rising Sun (DTS HD MA) Tier 3

This one sounds extremelly dated, actually it sounds if it was done in 1983 not in 1993.
And No DTS can't makes this better either. The worst from Fox by far.

I'm Legend (Dolby THD) Tier 0

This thing rocks no doubt, nothing to complain here. Make it bold as well, unless someone objects.

You capped it but you didn't bold it, plus you have movie titles beginning with "H" and "I" jumbled together.

Cool thanks. That is weird, it wasn't bolded for me before, but is now. Either way, I have this at home, I can't wait to see/hear how it stacks up with other great BD's I have heard.

I still consider Die Hard 4 as the best sounding BD I have heard so far, and that isn't even bolded

I also need to re-watch Blackhawk Down as it has been a while.

Kevin, I think both Die Hard 4 and BHD would edge out I'm Legend, but in their own right they're all excellent tracks. DH 4 should be bolded too IMO.

What's the verdict on the Underworld movies?

also The Brave One, and Rising Sun needs to be placed, see above for ratings.

thanks.

got it bolded now. it's unfortunate most of us, myself included, cannot hear the lossless version of this track.

Out of 18, 8 voted other then Tier 0, which means almost half feels that it don't belong there, your logic escapes me here.

Evo for Tier 1 makes much more sense based on the votes.

Man on Fire (DTS MA) is definitely Tier 0. The bass is unreal.

and 10 voted tier 0, i dont see how i'd put it in tier 1 when tier 0 has more than half the total votes.

When I gave my rating for DH4 about a month ago, I stated that I thought it was the best BD I had heard and recommended that it be bolded, unfortunately I was in the minority on it, no big deal.

For me, it is still my standard until something knocks it off its perch.

I really wish my Sharp BD player could bitstream or decode the DTS HD-MA. Although even the core was nice (LFODH).

I definitely like when I see LPCM or TrueHD on the back...

DH4 should be bolded. It's pretty amazing sounding and reference quality all the way. Better than I am Legend? Yes and that says a lot.

+1 for I Am Legend moving up higher within tier 0.

This Dolby truehd track is the most dynamic soundtrack I have ever heard. Even with the volume cranked way up the first 5 minutes are so quiet until the mustang roars on screen and really hits you in the chest. Truly spectacular mix!!!

+1 for I Am Legend. We have this in our Store on an onkyo 705. with a mid priced polk speakers. the system sounds amazing. Customers are attracted to the sounds and are startled and some even complain haha. But If people really wanna hear the difference. just listen to the roar of the mustang in the 1st scene compared to the plain audio track you feel the car, (never was a muscle car fan but after hearing that car 'a fan of the mustang), and many other scenes on this movie make customers and associates jump. i still jump when i hear gun shots and various noised from the audio, the thing that baffles me is how the sound doesn't have to be that high to give an amazing kick, if you turn this up expect to be startled alot.

I never really was an audiophile, but listening to this HD Audio i cant get enough of it. Cant wait to build a system in a year or two.

It's an alphabetic list, not a rank among the same tier. The bold caped ones are the "cream of the crop", so Legend is already noted among the best.
