Ah simple marketing to a counter punch to any blockbuster like Transformers to come out. Plus with the Christmas shopping season coming up why not get the ball rolling early. Now since you been so negative about Blu-Ray lately and you say your format neutral you would think this would be a good thing, getting movies for less .... Now how about selling me your Sony Ruby since you don't like Sony anymore... JK!!!!

I think Disney's the first studio to find out, "Hey, at these prices, our lackluster catalog titles, through volumes of sales, bring in almost as much as our day and dates! Brilliant!"

They haven't had one since the BTGO (buy two/three, get one) in August. It never was a BOGO.

You are right (but your link does not direct to the Amazon BD sale), but I think that it was limited to some Sony (and Disney?) titles, unlike the big sale back in August. In any case, it is now all over.

BOGO: Strikes again!!! I am replacing my DVD collection with Blu-Ray and some HD-DVD, at this rate Blu-Ray will stay ahead.. Guy at local BB was pissed they weren't doing it on the HD-DVD side and walked away with nothing.. Although the Hero collection is sure helping sell the Xbox Add on saw a few of those walk away...

Score #1
BB Take:

Enemy of the State BD - $15.00

Black Book BD - $15.00

Gone in 60 Sec. BD - $15.00

Pearl Harbor BD - $15.00

Score #2
CC Take:

16 Blocks BD - $13.49

Donnie Brasco BD - $13.99

Man at these prices I can see updating my DVD collection.... I would prefer to buy them at CC because prices are much better, but there selection is pretty much picked over after the last 2 weeks.

Garman;

How do you approach the BB offer at CC? Do you just show the add and tell them that it is on any Blu-ray or any Blu-ray under $xx.00? Depending on what you say, I may try it at my local CC. I have to go back to BB and get another weekly ad first.

Thanks,

Mr Ian B

If you want I can post my receipts and just print them off, the sale goes till Sat... Till there next flyer comes out.... I just showed them my last 2 receipts and they had no problems correcting the price at the register. Not trying to deceive anyone here, just went off of there local flyer and it had 8 titles listed but under the heading in small print it said 15 titles but didn't list which ones.. So they said on all of them, what I don't like is there not telling everyone about this sale which is lame.. Then CC looks there Ad up online and matches the price and betters it by 10%.... I am pretty much done till Oct. 30 week... Spider Man Trilogy and a few PS3 games and I am done till Mid of Nov/Dec... Ah maybe..... Looking for a combo player if they price them right by Christmas...

Take your last receipt to CC and see if they will match the pricing on all there Blu-Ray discs.. Show there your last BB receipt or show it to BB and tell them you want the same deal, thats what I did today..

No dice for me at my local BB. They stood fast that the 2 for $30 deal was for those mentioned only in the flyer and on their website. Even showing them copies of receipts after that didn't help. They claimed that the manager of those stores shouldn't have rung those up as 2 for $30.

I took the red pill AND the blue pill.

Well they most likely did because CC was doing the same thing in the town I live... Plus read the flyer, it doesn't state what Blu-Ray, it says in small print
preselected titles 5-15... and shows I guess maybe there running different marketing campains in different areas then because it has been going on all week here and I have the receipts to prove it.. Twice at BB and Twice at CC this week. Frankly I hope they run this again over the Holiday shopping season...

It shows: Into the Blue, Layer Cake,Black Hawk Down,HellBoy,Fifth Element,
House of Flying Daggers,Geisha and the Patriot on page 20 of the
Ad. In small print it says choose from 5-15 preselected titles but
does not state which ones, so a major FUBAR on BB fault. They
have been known to screw up on Ads before...

But hey I like VeerArSix prices better!!! $9.99... sign me up..... Hell buy the lot of them and put them on ebay for 5 bucks a piece more....

I'm not thrilled about having to get the crapped-on version of Robocop but they don't sell From Hell in stores.

Wal-Mart is having a great sale (online) for Buena Vista titles. All $2 for 25 making them $12.50 a piece:

I wrote up an article on the deal over at my site:

HighDefDiscNews

Here's the link to the Wal-Mart deal:

Wal-Mart deal

Some have said all you have to do is print out the deal and bring it in to CC or BB and they'll match it. Going to try it today and report back. Hopefully it works because POTCMC for $12.50 is a great deal

No problem....I was just trying to be funny using the Kahn's hot dog comparison. The other poster wanted us to believe Disney is desperate to sell discs....it is simply good business especially when any kind of sale moves product. We all know these movies are overpriced anyhow....the worst case scenario is Disney sold these at cost but more than likely they still made a little cash in the process. BTW....I own both HD DVD and Blu ray so it really does not bother me one way or the other what people say about either format. It actually gets pretty funny around here with how fanatical some of the HD DVD and Blu ray supporters act and how desperate they sound when attempting to defend their format of choice.

off topic, but Walmart related.

I just scored The Day After Tomorrow for $24.83. They must have priced it wrong as all their other Fox titles are $33.83.
