I just went to Amazon to look at the Kubrick releases and it says 5-6 weeks back order! Do you guys think this is due to more Blu Ray interest? Or poor productions on Warner's part?

Already being discussed here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=927177 A few threads above this one.

No production issue just looks like Amazon is getting their orders late.

It's happening to both formats. At least 2 of the Kubrick HD DVD's are also showing 5 to 6 weeks.

Just to chime in, my Best Buy (Brandon, Fl) had about 7 copies of each of the Kubrick Blu's when I was there.

production issues aren't limited to one format...

some places have them... others don't... if there TRULY is a 6 week backlog, there's got to be a (or multiple) reason why they aren't available...

also, just because some places have them doesn't mean there aren't production issues...

think about it... granted, there's a lot of excitement around these on avs, but how many of them in the grand scheme of things are REALLY getting sold? we aren't talking millions (or even hundreds of thousands) here...

if indeed they DID underestimate sales that grossly, the fact that there aren't going to be any for SIX weeks points to some type of production issues (not necessarily related to the specific movies)...

i don't have a vested interest one way or the other... just drawing a logical conclusion from the facts at hand... i cheerfully admit that i could be wrong...

No, but I felt it was important to emphasize it wasn't just a problem with Blu-Ray, which could be inferred from the preceding post.

i suppose that's somewhat understandable and i should have been clearer...

of course, that's a sad commentary on what has happened on avs with the rampant fanboyism, that any comment is regarded as having a hidden agenda...

Indeed. One has to choose his words carefully these days.

I've notice before that Amazon has a default message AUTOMATICALLY come up as soon as they are out of stock. It doesn't matter if the next shipment is coming in tomorrow or two weeks from now, it always says the same "programmed" thing. When 300 was first out they ran out of Blu-ray a number of times. Each time the message was something like "orders usually ship in 10 - 14 days". Of course, the message was usually changed back to "in-stock" within a day or so. Same thing will happen with these. Keep the faith!!

And Amazon really does need to increase the number of Blu-rays it orders.
