So, I'm getting a PS3 one way or the other by the end of the year. I'm not sure which order I'll get these, but the following list are the movies I'm going to get as soon as possible.

I've already got an HD DVD player, so I'm expecting greatness, think these titles will do?

The Pirates trilogy
The Die Hard Quadrilogy
Spiderman trilogy
Cars
Ratatouille
The Rock (when it comes out, obviously)
Pearl Harbor
Casino Royale
Close Encounters
Night at the Museum

Those are the only movies I'm really going to make an effort to procure, otherwise nothing else seems to scream, "BUY ME, I'M IN HIGH DEF NOW!"

If I wasn't into home theater, I'd have a whole lotta money.

If you act tonight, the Amazon sale gives you the 3 separate Die Hards & Night of the Museum cheap, pick up Live Free or Die Hard separately and you're still ahead money-wise from buying the set.

But yeah you're picking the best of the BD exclusives, Pirates of the Caribbean & Ratatouille really are going to show off picture quality. Perhaps consider The Prestige and Apocalypto, I'd take them over Spider-Man but that's just me.

Apocalypto and The Prestige are very nice movies and they are also in my top 5 BD movies that I own. The rest of your list will definitely not disappoint you.

I think we're getting to the point where I wouldn't be able to recommend blu-rays without listing like 100.

Blu-ray = 775

I haven't seen Apocalypto but I have seen the screenshots and they're pretty damn stunning.

As cheesy as the movie is, after renting BD's for a good month, prob 3-4 a week, the best picture so far of the ones on your list are Night at the Museum and Cars. Cars however is Computer Animation so I don't know how fair it is. I wasn't impressed by POTC. Kingdom of Heaven is another good one not on your list as well as T2 (especially the sound in that movie).

Yeah, T2 I'll probably get. Kindgom of Heaven I haven't seen. I dunno. Looks a little bloated to me. I don't get HD movies just because they look good in HD, I get them because the movie's good.

It could look like real life trapped within my TV but if it's a boring, awful movie, I'm not gonna wanna watch it.

I saw Night at the Museum on BluRay at Circuit City and it looked AWFUL, but I always keep in mind not to judge anything you see at CC or BB, what with the moronic public completely destroying the settings.

I really look forward to one day seeing Disney animation, like Lion King and Aladdin and Little Mermaid. Those will be pretty fantastic to see in HD.

If I wasn't into home theater, I'd have a whole lotta money.

Replace Spiderman movies with Kingdom of heaven and replace Pearl Harbor with Black Hawk Down and Tears of the sun.

Not because the others doesnt have good PQ and AQ, but they aint worth buying anyway

Good movies are as rare as an on topic discussion.

March Of The Penguins
Corpse Bride
Flags Of Our Fathers
Goodfellas
The Prestige
Letters From Iwo Jima

Stay away from "Happily Never After" and "Surf's Up." As much as I try to convince myself that the kids will like it, or that their is a good demo scene here or there you'll find much better options.

Even the short film on "Surf's Up" disappoints.

Beware the BOGO sales because you may be encouraged to add things that are better left in the bin- but there are definately some stunners out there.

Ok, here's my Jessica Alba plug. Get "Into the Blue". That's one hot ass in a very tight bikini!

Oh yeah, clear water scenes look good on Blu as well.

To the original poster, Pearl Harbor is supposed to be great eye candy but a deadly dull movie. Substitute A Few Good Men instead.

Oh yeah. Into the Blue. Actually, that one I'll get. That's one hell of a guilty pleasure of mine.

I liked Pearl Harbor, actually, I wasn't expecting a history lesson, it was a Michael Bay flick for Christ's sake. It should've been called something else, though.

If I wasn't into home theater, I'd have a whole lotta money.

The Rock is extremely cheesy. It was decent in it's day, but now it is almost laughable. The rest are pretty solid movies. I can't speak on their PQ though.

As an owner of both formats, I can say that Apocalypto is one of the most stunning HD transfers available at the moment.........In my opinion of course, but I guarantee that you wouldn't be disappointed in the picture/audio.
