I can truly live without Universa titles. It was Warner's titles that I could not live without. However, AMerican Gangster, Gladiator, Scareface and some older titles. If they never made for Blu-Ray, then I would not miss them. Their titles are not must-haves to me.

Just looking at my Universal DVDs, here's a few:

American Beauty
American Pie
The Bourne movies
Cinderella Man
Gladiator
Out of Sight
Seabiscuit

And almost anything Hitchcock. I skipped the Spielberg titles, as we won't see them for ages.

Currently on HD DVD:

The Mummy
The Mummy Returns
Van Helsing
Waterworld
Dante's Peak
Hot Fuzz
Shaun of the Dead
The Bourne Identity
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum
The Breakfast Club (Although, is the picture quality that much better than the DVD?)

Currently not on HD DVD:

Back to the Future Trilogy
E.T.
Weird Science
The Burbs

Those are all definite buys when Universal starts releasing on Blu. I really can't think of anything else I'd want from Universal. I thought there would be more. Maybe I'm forgetting some? I might consider the Jurassic Park series, but that franchise should've been better.

I bleed blu.

Gladiator was released by Dreamworks here......but Universal was a co-production studio and I believe got international release rights to the movie.

American Gangster.

There are a ton of Universal movies I'd like to see on Blu-ray eventually. There's a reason that Universal was able to prop up HD-DVD for so long - they've got a pretty damned large catalog with some great movies.

Look it up on IMDB. The Car (1977) was a horror film about a mysterious black car that kills people. Think of it as an inspiration for Christine except you'll never see the driver. It's one of my favorite film.

For me, there's only 4 titles:

Atonement (out in the UK next week)
The Bourne Supremacy
Battlestar Galactica
Heroes, Season 1

They're so tempting, I often consider going format-neutral for them, even now. Everything else can wait 'til Universal come to their senses.

Blu since '07

I have a special place in my heart for Black Dog. You mix one part Meatloaf, one part Randy Travis, two parts Patrick Swazyee in with a bunch of big rig semi truck action smashing, and you get the magic that is Black Dog. I hope when Universal releases this on BD someday, they take the time to meticulously mix the sound track in 7.1 lossless so I can hear all the horsepower.

I really really want Universal to release The Car- the 1977 classic the right way on Blu Ray. The last regular dvd release was disappointing. The picture was Awesome!!! Much better than the Anchor Bay release... But they screwed up the soundtrack in a couple of the scenes. I WANT THE BLU RAY...WITH TRAILER...AND MAYBE THE TV VERSION AS WELL AS AN EXTRA...AT Least let Shout Factory release it, if universal does not want to.....Shout already put out They Live which is a Universal release...Please Please...
