I and many other people would be very interested in Christian Biblical movies on the BLU-RAY format. I currently own many Christian films on DVD, Laserdisc, and one on D-VHS. The Passion of the Christ on 1080I D-VHS with a 1.54MB per second DTS soundtrack is a movie I enjoy watching in HDTV.

Movies I would like to purchase in BLU-RAY if and when they are released
  • Passion of the Christ (20th Century Fox)
  • Ten Commandments (Paramount)
  • The Robe (20th Century Fox)
  • Demetrius and the Gladiators (sequel to the Robe) (20th Century Fox)
  • Luther (2003) (20th Century Fox)
  • Facing the Giants (2006) (Sony Pictures)
  • Bible: In the Beginning (20th Century Fox)
  • Samson and Delilah (Paramount)
  • Sodom and Gomorrah (20th Century Fox)
  • Left Behind (Sony Pictures)
  • Left Behind II: Tribulation Force (Sony Pictures)
  • Left Behind World at War (Sony Pictures)
  • King of Kings (Warner)
  • Ben Hur (Warner)
  • Greatest Story Ever Told (20th Century Fox)
Plus many other classic Christian movies would be awesome to own in 1080P with PCM sound tracks.

There is just about every kind of program you can think of on BLU-RAY. There is porn for people that are into porn. There are action movies, comedies, and family movies from Disney but so far with the BLU-RAY format being almost two years old there still is not one Christian title yet.

Once Blu-ray catches on and matures a little bit we will see more diverse titles being released on the BD format. Yes, I am looking foward to Ben-Hur also...

Ben Hur would be amazing . But just think of all the black bar threads we'd have off of that movie

Ben-Hur and Lawrence in 2009 would make it quite possibly the greatest year ever. Not that Lawrence has anything to do with Christians or anything!

I would really like to see a high quality restoration of ALIEN.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I watched it on SD the other day and couldn't help but wish it was on Blu with 1080p and an HD audio track.

/crosses fingers.

It's interesting reading through all the diverse titles mentioned in this thread. Some movies are mentioned multiple times, others are ones I've never heard of. I guess when it comes right down to it we want every movie ever released on DVD or LD and we want them NOW.

Laurence of Arabia has been on the generic BD demo disc for nearly a whole year now and the cuts they use look FANTASTIC, they must be done a Blade Runner style restoration on it.

I really want more TV series on Blu-Ray, specifically either Stargate and now Universal is Blu, I'd like a good good quality BSG out (and accept my trade-in for the utterly atrocious HD DVD season 1 release)

I hope this will get a Bluray release soon, I can only imagine the added impact this movie would have in its full 1080p Glory, a masterpiece indeed and a true story.

Weinstein has never released on the Blu-ray format before. Although that might change soon with their distributor - Genius Products - getting into Blu-ray.

Please do not release any universally acclaimed classics praised by most critics. Please do not release movies on the AFI top-100 list.

Abandon all pretensions of art; only sell stuff that makes a quick buck. Sell yourself out. Whore yourself out to mediocre movies and turn more $20 (oops I mean $40 with the cost of blu-ray) tricks.

Therefore, I suggest you release

Coyote Ugly
The Last Sentinel
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Alien vs. Predator

and many others.

Please cancel the forthcoming releases of Bonnie and Clyde and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Kudos for re-releasing 12 Angry Men on DVD and skipping the high definition version.

Shame on you for Bladerunner!

I'm a newbie and I don't know what the heck I'm talking about.

only question is if this will be the uncut/unrated version. if not, i'd pass. the stuff mentioned like the music video and bond girls are forever are already on the current bd. they should wait til end of the year when Quantum of Solace comes out.

I heard rumors of this release before I had a chance to purchase the other version, so I held off. This release will be good for me.

And at least commentary is included this time.

Please release Dr. Zhivago someday! Any chance it'll come out sometime soon? I think grand scale movies like this would really benefit from high definition. What studio would it be released from?

Warner. Since they will actually release old films, there's a chance.

That's very good news that Dr. Zhivago is Warner, they are one of the only studios that release high definition movies from ages ago. Maybe the only studio?
Also patiently waiting for LOTR, but that one is obviously not an if, but when. LOTR: ROTK will be the best looking, best Blu Ray EVER! My SD extended cut copy looks BEAUTIFUL upscaled, I can't even begin to imagine how good it'll look in high definition. I used to be pro HD DVD all the way, but then I got to thinking about titles like this one and realized the extra 20 GB would go a long way. But that being besides the point, with New Line announcing that even titles like Semi-Pro () will be getting DTS-MA audio and 2 discs, I can only drool about what they will do with LOTR. DTS-MA, 4 50 GB Blu Ray disc Extended cut? PLEASE?

It should be a river in South America? An on-line shopping outlet?

I have a feeling that both Bad Boys should show up by the end of the year. It not like they'll have another Will Smith to cross-promote with. [Cough]Hancock[/Cough]

Much like Shawshank Redemption which was advertised for more then a year, and will be released finally at the end of this year, I think this is jsut one of those titles that was planned to be released, but got "pushed". Just take a look on how long Harry Potter and Shawshank Redemption were both advertised (among others) before actual release. I think sometimes companies just throw together quick clips that will benefit the trailer. They will tag it as "coming soon" that way they are not herald to any specific date.
