I think "After the Sunset" (2004) deserves a blu-ray transfer; i'm surprised its not on bluray with how recent it is even. Great scenery and fun movie with Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek.

Jackass 3D. Paramount apparently isn't a fan of the 3D movie. They only released a DVD version with the old school red and blue glasses. There reasoning is they wanted people with only DVD players to be able to experience 3D. Which is just a cop out obviously.

I doubt there are plans for a movie like this to ever have a re-release unless they do some kind of bundle pack with all three movies on blu ray.

With all the hub-bub over the Beatles' 50th, I'm surprised there's still no BD for BACKBEAT.

You might see The Black Hole on BD, when Disney does the re-make they are working on. They might do what they did with Tron which was timed to come out on disc with Tron Legacy.

"Bring out yer dead!".."Wait I'm not dead yet!"..(Sound Austrian here) "WRONG !!" (You know what happens next..)

That could be years away, if it even happens. The movie has been broadcast via Showtime (most recently last month). Or, you can rent or purchase it in HD via OnDemand. (Verizon has it at $15.99 to buy and $3.99 to rent). I can say that the Showtime version looked great. (Have it archived on the DVR.)

Good to see Kino releasing Gorky Park (10/21 release date). A very good movie all around but especially memorable for Lee Marvin in one of his final roles, and one of his best IMO.

Sodom and Gomorrah (1962).

I can't believe the Fox "Cinema Archive" DVD release is pan and scan only. And there are apparently some cheesy import DVD's available in fullscreen 16/9 ratio, but that's not correct, either.

I mean, jeez, even the old LaserDisc is 2.35/1 for crying out loud.

The fact that this classic isn't available in its original aspect ratio in a current format is cause for someone to die in a pillar of salt.

Bob Simandl ... somewhere near St. Louis

They are probably too busy debauching themselves and who can blame them.

It's a crime we haven't seen Quick Change on Blu-ray, one of Bill Murray's funnier movies.

The Commitments. Excellent movie! You can't even stream this in either SD or HD.

I would like to see Hero re-released on BR, properly. The PQ of the existing release was a big disappointment and did not justice to this beautifully shot movie.

Best,

Dan

It is owned by Miramax, which isn't much more than an empty licensing house at this point. We'll likely get stuck with the disappointing Disney transfer on Blu-ray in Region A until the format croaks.

OP-

the BBC has killer music-content programming that I, too would like to see on DVD or Blu-Ray.

The format better not croak, I am not replacing ALL of my fav discs AGAIN! And 4k doesn't mean anything if they cannot be bothered to do decent encodes... Rant over lol

Best,

The bigger sticking point for improved Blu-rays is striking new film masters. That is the most expensive part of the process and the one most of the larger studios continue to skimp on.

Anyone have an educated guess on if/when High Society and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? are ever going to come out on bluray? Who controls the rights, what the issues might be, etc? I couldn't be happier with all the great catalog titles getting released but with each new announcement I also can't help wondering why no one has gotten around to these 2 yet?

Found on Bluray in the UK in its original 1.85:1 AR. The DVD was not so fortunate.

warning: Region B
