From John Huston, one of the great "feel bad" films. Criterion did the DVD.

A couple of those movies have made it out on Blu-ray. The newer Lolita recently saw a German release. Tucker: The Man and his Dream would be nice to have on Blu-ray, I wish Criterion would tackle it.

There are at least three known Blu-rays for Open Range, all in Europe. A French BD by Fox Pathe Europa, a Scandinavian BD by Nordisk Film, and a German BD from Universum Film.

I don't think there is much chance Disney would release it in the United States, sadly. They despise their live-action back catalog for home video.

Signed up for a preorder e-mail notification when "The Passenger" (1975) is issued as a Blu-ray, not just DVD. But it's been about a year waiting now. The sign-up form at Blu-ray.com implies a new disc is under development, but maybe not. Read in one of the many reviews here that the star of the film, Jack Nicholson, owns the rights. If true, maybe that's the hold-up . -- John

EDIT: Looks like there's a Spanish Blu-ray, though. But B-region discs won't play on my Sony PS3 machine, and one comment about this disc isn't too encouraging about the PQ. A buy-on icon for the pre-order region A page at Blu-ray.com, for eBay, shows zero results.

This thread has been on-going since June 2007 and since then many of the movies I have been looking forward to have been released. But, there still are some, for whatever reason that still haven't seen the light of day including:

The Big Sleep1946 (Bogart and Bacall sizzle)
Diva 1981 (a very different French film)
Shot in the Dark 1964 (arguably the best of the Pink Panther movies)
Sleepless in Seattle 1993 (a general release not the limited 3000 copy one)
Tom Jones 1963 (an Academy Award winner)
True Lies 1994 (probably on everyones' list)
Victor/Victoria 1982

There are so many films from the VHS days that have not made it to DVD yet. Especially, the 80's horror genre that I love so much.

Scream Factory and Arrow Video have released more horror from that era than I thought would get released on Blu-ray. It is true there are still many films stuck on VHS from that era.

They try- I will give them that. However, the movies that are released have been remastered (molested) compared to the originals.
