for those who already received emails stating about the $50.00 giftcard you will recieved for every hd dvd player you purchased with BEST BUY. Did they say how many gift card you will recieved if you bought more than 1 hd player? For example if you bought 2 did they stated that you will received 2 giftcards. Or you got email for each hd players you purchased from BB.

Questions:
1. Did you get an email from BEST BUY for each hd dvd players you purchased?

2. I bought 2 hd players should I get 2 email?

Thanks,

Peter

As far as I know as long as you have a receipt for each HD DVD player you will get a 50.00 gift card for ea, if you want to trade them in, you can go to BB trade in online and get a quote, accept the quote and print a free shipping label and they will send you a gift card for the quoted price after they receive the HD DVD player( it doen't matter where you had purchased the dvd player). i tried to see how much I would get back for 3 mon old A35 and all the equipment and 15 HD DVD movie (10 unopened) they offered 125.00. Big of them!

I got a single general e-mail, had bought five players. Called, they looked up all my receipts and they said they'd review it within 3 days, got a message on the third day and said I would be receiving five gc's in several weeks (don't know exactly 4-6 I think).

For those who have gotten the email or call, what was your earliest eligible player purchase? Just wondering if there's a 'start date' for the gift cards as I've seen conflicting stories.
Some have said after November, others have said there is no start date...

Got the e-mail and the phone call , bought 3 players total from BB but not sure if the first one was on my Reward Zone account ( probably not so it's time to dig up the receipt ) .

* So it would seem from the above post that launch units do not qualify for the $50 gift card ? ... my first player was purchased on the first day they were available . *

Got a recorded phone call from BB. They told me to call them to confirm I was eligible.
So receiving the cards may not be automatic unless you call them first.

Received ONE e-mail a few days ago. I had purchased TWO HD-A1's in June and July of 2006 using my BB credit card both times. Could only find ONE receipt (probably used one for a rebate or something.) Called the 800 # and spoke with a nice lady who said I was eligible for 2 $50 gift cards. I did not even have to read her any information off of my receipt. She just confirmed my e-mail address and mailing address, and said to expect the cards in about 4 - 6 weeks.

Jason,

I bought an A1 on launch day, and received the email and phone message telling me I should get the gift card before April 1st. So this would seem to include those of us who bought on launch. My other players were bought elsewhere, so looks like a go for the gift card.

I bought an A30 at BB before HD-DVD bit the dust...got the e-mail yesterday but I can't find my reciept anywhere. I'm hoping since they obviously know that I bought a player I can get the gift card anyway...maybe I'll call tomorrow.

Have you ever bought anything online from BB or are you a rewardzone member?

I got a phone call (pre-recorded) to let me know that that they'll be sending me a giftcard, it did not mention anything about me calling back to confirm anything. It just said that if I don't get it by May that I should contact customer services.

I am a rewardzone member. By asking the question are you suggesting they sent the email to all rewardzone members?

I purchased an A2, mid March of 2007 with a Visa. Yesterday, I got a phone call from 888-BEST-BUY asking me to call 888-BEST-BUY back to confirm that I purchased one or more players from them. I was transferred to a live person who then transferred me to a line with a generic recording that stated I would be reciving my gift card in 4-6 weeks.

The message also stated that since I purchased with a credit card, they have my address on file but if it had changed since the purchase (it had not) to wait on the line and I would be transferred to yet another line.

It was all very confusing and unnecessary, if you ask me. I'll be surprised if I don't have to call on May 2nd and whine that I hadn't received mine yet. It smells an awful lot like rebates, in where they like you to forget about it (hence the 4-6 weeks for the mail to process them)

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Best Buy is stepping up to the plate. I just wish all of the other vendors (Walmart, and so on) would jump in, since my understanding is that this cash is coming from Toshiba directly to the re-seller. I bought six players altogether and only one was from Best Buy.

I do like that I don't have to give up my equipment or movies, though.

Did anyone go to the Best Buy reseller site? Just for giggles, I put in my mint condition XA2 and the max amount of movies (6-11, I think) I got back a quote for $195.00!!! When Hell freezes over was my response, I believe.

Back to the gift card/rebate situation...Does anybody know for certain who is footing the bill for Best Buy's program? I'm real curious...If it's Best Buy, hats off to them. If it's Toshiba, then where are the other re-sellers? Right?

Sorry, folks...Just middle of the night, can't sleep ranting. I'll probably read this tomorrow and ask myself what I was on. Take care...Will

I received this same phone call. I had purchased two players, one at launch and one a few months ago. Call said a gift card. Hopefully, this is generic and I will get a gift card for each purchase.

Email for my Nov 07 A2 purchase (via website/store pickup) came Sunday 3/23. Considering that I got my A2 for $99 + 7 movies, $50 back is very cool.

Depending on how you look at it, you could say my 2nd A2 (a refurb bought 2 wks ago for $45 via Amazon) was "free" or my 1st one now has only cost $50.

Not too shabby.

Do wish that we could use the GCs on HD DVDs to feed our "obsolete" players, though. Crappy that as of today, all "red" discs have vanished from BB shelves.

Looks like everyone prior to Nov 06, will also get a giftcard. That's great. And even if you bought it after Feb 23, it does'nt hurt to talk with their customer relations just be nice when you ask for it.

Ok, for those of you in a similar situation...
1. I bought my A30 after november 07 in-store

2. I'm NOT a Rewards Zone memebr

3. I can't find my reciept

4. I will still get the $50 gift card

Basically if you paid by credit card you can call in and they can look up the transaction...kinda scary they know every item you buy but that's how it is.
