I bought an HD-DVD player last winter on close out. I now have a reasonable HD-DVD collection and a broken HD-A3.

I was moving things around, running some new wires and when I went to test everything my A3 no longer works.

Things I have done to try and isolate the problem:
1. I have several extra monoprice cables laying around so I have tried multiple cables. It's not the cable. However the cables do appear to have some play in them once plugged in. I have tried holding the cable at different angles and I still cant get a picture.
2. Everything on the front display indicates things are fine. It acts like the movie is playing.
3. I pulled the case cover off, there is no obvious damage on the exterior or interior around the HDMI plug.

Digital audio still works so I know the movie is playing.

Did you disconnect/connect the HDMI cable while the player was turned on? That has caused some units to fry the HDMI chip.

You could always try reflashing the firmware, but I don't know if it will make any difference.

If I were you, I would bid on this A30 and swap the HD DVD drive from your A3 into this unit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/AS-IS-Toshiba-HD...item3356e85600
You will then also get 1080p if that is needed ..

But wait until the last minute of the auction to do the bidding. The guy having the bid now will surely outbid you if you put in an early bid. He bids on all broken A3s and A30s that show up on ebay. Only way to outbid him is to wait until the last minute before placing your bid.

Did you check to see if your analog component outputs are working? You will still get 1080i from those outputs.

Component still works. Problem is I have a 1080p projector and 50" Sony hooked up through a Monoprice HDMI switcher.

You are getting sound but no picture via HDMI? Sounds like a handshake problem especially if it was working fine previously. Have you tried resetting your A3 to the factory defaults? Also try a different HDMI device (DVD or Blu-ray player) to check the HDMI input on your Sony.
