I have an XA2 that has had the shutdown bug since day one. I've always used the workaround with no issues. Lately it has begun shutting down while playing some cd's even when using the workaround. This has never happened before. I have the extended warranty from Best Buy and I'm wondering if Toshiba is still repairing or replacing these units. I'm not sure if I would just like to exchange in the store for something else, or if I can get a new player. Has anyone sent one of these units in for repair lately? If so, what was your experience?

I sent in a supposedly brand new XA-2 unit I bought off ebay w/shutdown bug back in may/june & got back a brand spanking new unit. Tosh said on the phone they dont even try to repair end of life units and just replace the whole unit.

I was a happy camper & Tosh's turnaround time was 1 day.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge you for the replacement XA2?

So you bought an XA2 and sent it back to Toshiba and spent $250 to get a new one? How much was the XA2 that you bought from ebay?

Did you change anything else? Check to see if you selected HDMI? Does your component output work?

This happened to me one time, for no reason the hdmi output just stopped working. I had to unplug it for a couple minutes then hook up the composite cable cable and re initialize the player. It has never happened again.
