Hi
I have a Toshiba HD-XE1, it was brand new in box, and now i've plug it in my new home theater.
The player is very slow to start a movie...
There are a few firmware upgrades... Will they make any diference in picture or making the player faster?

Tank you

If this is your first HD DVD player ever (or high definition period - HD or BD), then yes, it will be a bit slower than a DVD player. If you have used a HD DVD or BD player (PS3 excluded), would you say it's a lot slower than the rest? I believe the XE1 is equal to the A2, which I wouldn't say is THAT slow. Your best bet might be to install the latest FW update.

The first generation Toshiba players were dreadfully slow. "A bit slower" than a DVD player is extremely understated.

Hi
Yes being a bit slow is no problem, is the second generation of HD-DVD, but this is the best HD-DVD player available, so i don't want to try the others.
It looks to me the A2 is not comparable.... quite different machines and prices.

I don't believe the FW updates do much, if anything, for speed. Also, hopefully you have a HDMI display because with DVI video levels will never be correct.
