Toshiba?
They used to have a flat rate of $150.
I bought a brand new XA2 off ebay which was DOA and Tosh replaced it with a brand new XA2. That was 2009. Depends on what stock they have left over.

You can get a new laser assembly from the auction site and change it yourself. Do a search for HD DVD laser lens. They are listed for XBox but people have installed them in Tosh players with no problems. They go for $7. If you don't want to go that route, it would probably be cheaper just to get another player.

You cannot swap drives on the XA1. The main board & drive are married together on the Gen 1 players, and must be replaced as a set. If the drive alone is swapped out, the unit will not boot. Also, the Xbox lasers are Gen 2 type, and are not compatible with Gen 1 or 3 players.

DT0811 = 2nd gen laser. I know because I replaced one in an XA2. IDK if they work with 1st and 3rd gen.

Yes, junglalien is correct. Xbox lasers are compatible with Gen 2 HD-DVD players. My mistake. Previous post edited.
