Will the XB360 HD-DVD player work on XB1?

I have one in storage and was wondering if anyone knew if I can use the old HD-DVD player on my XB1?

HD DVD playback on XBOX 360 was realized with a HD DVD playback app. Unfortunately this app is not available nor compatible with XBOX ONE.

Though with the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps on the Xbox One now it's certainly possible someone could make an app for it. The only issue then would be if Microsoft would allow software to add support for a new hardware device (The HD DVD player)....even though it's a small % of people that would want this it would be a pretty cool feature.

I'm pretty sure a UWP app cannot get direct access to the device which you need in order to get the decryption keys. Or at least be able to send atapi commands direct.

I still have one of these drives sitting in my closet (with other dead/old gear that there is not a huge amount of value to).... Too bad XB1 does not support but, I am sure there is not a ton of demand for it.

Anyone try plugging it in and seeing what it does ? (no I have not tried it, just wondering)
