I've had my a1 for approx 2 mos now.I actually bought it already with the 2.0 upgrade and got it on ebay.I have'nt had any issues at all,i guess i may be 1 of the lucky ones.Any how i've watched several sd dvd's and the upconversion is outstanding.Yes on some sd's it looks better than others but regardless they all look awesome.Today i watched the sd of ice age the meltdown with the family and i swear it looked like it was in hi-def.Awesome!I have it connected via coax for audio now and it still sounds awesome.I wonder how much better it would be connecting the audio via the 5.1 inputs.

Amazing how close the average SD upconverted material comes to most Blu-ray titles isn't it?

This is the main reason I'd purchased two HD A1 units. They play standard DVDs better than my Denon 3910 or my former HDPC setup. And I'm afraid that isn't the case with the newer replacement model.

This is probably why the remaining HD A1 units are selling at a premium.

Agreed, it's one hell of a good upscaler for NTSC discs, even if it does have a slight chroma issue (although I think that's only on Interlaced material).

I wish it would play PAL because the quality of my Faroudja-based player just doesn't compare.
