Well, everything was going great and I set up the audio and it sounded great. So, when I was putting my 3components back into their final space the receiver decides to click off right after pushing the power button. Its an older Yamaha, a few years old. I press the power button, and in a few seconds it clicks off. I unplugged and replugged, changed the impedence button on the back, same thing.
I think this happened once before, a couple/few years ago and I don't remember what happened but if I recall it just started to work again for reasons that I never found out.
I'm bummed. I'm not really interested in buying a new reciever!

This thread is supposed to be about pricing of the XA2, not about people's ordering/delivering experiences.

My previous receiver was a Yamaha, and that's exactly what it did when speaker wires crossed. It's a good troubleshooting suggestion.

Today we'll do the permanant hook up an connect the receiver. I'm told that the sound will be better too. I'm using component for the receiver.
How do I check which firmware version I have?
Are firmware upgrades just for operation or does it affect picture or sound quality also?

I have the same TV and my impression on upconversion was definitely a WOW also. I already had an A1, but the XA2 really delivered the upconversion. I'm not sure if it is our TV RealAudiophobe, but my experience with the 6187 has been that the TV is VERY picky with upconversion. I've had a Pioneer 588A, an Oppo 971H (the best one at the time), the HD-A1, and now the XA2. The A1 fell short of my expectations, and so far the XA2 exceeded them. I can finally say I'm happy!

(BTW, I ordered from VE on 6/11, it was shipped on 6/29, and I received the XA2 on 7/5.)

Question: does the XA2 have the same issues with glitchy stalling/ lag between chapters, errors, etc..as some have reported when playing "standard" def DVDs? (SD) Or are these kind of minor glitches in viewing exclusive to using it to play HD-DVD discs?

I realize, these problems aren't common issue with the player, etc., but was just interested to know. Thanks
