I mean at any store, like Costco, Sams Club, Best Buy, CC, Walmart, Target, etc, etc.

The cheapest it is now is $350 at Walmart.

Lots got the A2 with 4 HD-DVD's for $342 at Circuit City.. Anyways not enough poll options, I honestly vote we will have $199 players in retail outlets by November 2007.

A few players like Toshiba, Shinco and another brand costing up to $199 and blu-ray is dead.

...and I think I already saw the A2 for $299 somewhere...

A2 was $299 on jr.com for a couple days. I doubt Blu Ray or HD-DVD are going to die anytime soon, no matter what either camp does...

Who cares about a $199 player at a store when the movies are twice what the DVDs cost (on older titles)?

I'd have no problem paying $4-399 for a player if movies were at the $20 range (in a B&M store).

Enough with the PMs about the name...

Your problem is volume, as more players hit the market you will start to see volume discounting start to happen on software. DVD was the same way when it was released (I bought the first 60 titles ever released on DVD and paid a pretty penny, including the Jenny McCarthy pboy disc)...

Hmmm... I voted for the possibility of a $199 HD DVD player by Xmas too, but I'm surprised so many here are being as optimistic, with almost 3/4 of the votes in the poll for that.

Hopefully the rental market will expand greatly.

I agree Pool, both camps have too much at stake to give up.

Even though it's not a b&m retailer, Amazon's price is $310 & free shipping.

Would be stupid to do it on 12/24, people do their shopping in November for Christmas...

I wouldn't be suprised if it happens by years end. Especially if a 3rd generation is announced.

When I picked up my A2 last weekend, I think it showed as 260.00 in Circuit City's computer before I picked my 4 movies. Just food for thought. I know what I'm getting all my family member's for xmas.

Anybody know how much an A2 might go for around Mid May. I prefer Blu but I use the 360 add on for exclusives. Now my collections are even.

I'm used to PCM and want to watch The Matrix with TrueHD. I only have a week to return the add on for a full refund. Should I return now and buy A2?

Or keep it and wait for a XA2/A2 price drop mid-may?

Ridiculous codec tier sig gone. Still AVC/24bit lossless fanboy.

Studio quality tier
Most Major studios>Small Studios>dogs>cats>Warner(the guys that do new movies)

interesting. I'll give Toshiba credit for doing the business and making the deal to get these in the stores on time.

If they took the place of the a cheap Chinese players at Wallyworld to the tune of 2 million players, I'll give them a lot more than credit.
