I purchased my HD-XA1 back in March, and I am still empty handed as of this date with respect to the 5 free hd-dvd offer.

I received a letter from Toshiba about a month and a half ago stating my form needed to be resubmitted because it did not contain a street address. I called them back on the number provided on the letter (which I now can't find) and explained to them that I do not have rural USPS postal delivery in my area - My PO box number is my address. I then asked if it would be ok if I resubmitted the form with my street address on top, followed by the PO box number. I was told yes - tho my DVD's have still not arrived.

Questions:

1) Has any1 received there free hd-dvds? How long did it take? Did you receive them by regular first class USPS mail?

2) Can someone suggest a number to call - this is starting to piss me off.

thx in advance for any suggestions (but don't say go blu - lol). That will happen if and when I decide to pick up a PS3 for the kids this Christmas.

I called at 10 weeks (8-10 weeks in the fine print) and was told a couple of more weeks. It is now a couple more weeks and no show.

Try 1-800-405-7520.

Some days it's hardly worth chewing through the restraints.

I think there is a HUGE thread (that I started) floating around in the Software section. Look for it, the title is almost the same as yours...

Every time I call the 800 # the person tells me they should ship out in a couple of weeks. When I tell them that that is what they tell me every time I call they just say they are sorry and I should have them shortly. I say thanks for your help and hang up. I don't think they have a clue when they will ship.

A friend brought his A2 in around Jan/Feb and received the discs in just about 10 weeks. I purchased my A2 in Late April. I suspect my discs will arrive in late July/early August. There may be a delay due to the increased demand, I would suspect. I don't have any reason to believe that they won't come. I have ordered various products over the years that had mail-in offers and eventually received the premium AFTER I forgot about them. It's annoying because I really want Blazing Saddles, Casablanca and Chronicles of Riddick. The other 2 I picked were so-so.

I think it took more than 3 months for Toshiba to send my 3 discs when I bought the XA2. I had forgotten about them.

I had heard about 3 months was the norm as Mr. Morton said. I can only imagine that the 5 free disc offer coupled with the recent $100 price drop will only extend that 3 month timeframe to god knows how long. I can't complain yet, it's only been 4 weeks.

I've read a few posts from folks who had received them, but only after (IIRC) 3-4 months. Another question for anyone who has received them: are they just the discs, or do they come in full retail packaging?

The only option, unfortunately. I ordered my freebies the end of January & got 'em at the end of May! 16 weeks, roughly

I mailed mine March 10th. NOTHING!
I called, they got my paperwork in and all is approved. I should get it in 8 weeks (this was 8weeks ago now).
Worst handling ever for such a deal...

Mailed my paperwork for 5 free DVD's 5/14/07. Received all 5 HD-DVDs today, 7/16/07.

Constantine
Chronicles of Riddick
U-571
Rundown
Four Brothers

Return address from "Archway Marketing Services" in Rockford, MN via media mail in a plastic bubble wrap envelope. Metered mail so no postmark date as to when sent.

They are all in their red cases and factory sealed/shrink wrapped.

Reported earlier that no gouging of UPC numbers. I shoulda put on my glasses before reporting that as U-571, Riddick & Rundown all have a 2-1/2" long gouge extending down from the top of the case. Almost looks like they were caught in some sort of machinery. Both cases for Constantine and Brothers are fine.

It seems to be a competition between BD and HD-DVD as to who is best at screwing up the implementation of a new technology.

What morons on both sides.

Putting software in the hands of the consumer only spurs demand. By the time they get around to mailing out the free discs, the initial enthusiasm that accompanied the player purshase is long gone.

These must be the teams that were charged with making DVD-A and SACD the replacement formats for the CD. Same strategy, sadly maybe the same result.

Got mine today, Seabiscut had a major scrape on the back cover, which ticks me because I selected it to sell it. There were only 3 of the five I really had interest in.

Got my five today also. Mailed in mid May so two months, about the same speed as mail in rebates. Oh, 3 of them were gouged across the UPC code too.

WOW . . 2 months! I had to wait over 4 months for my 3 free movies and The Run Down had a bad scrape across the front plastic "artwork" holder so now the artwork is inside the case because the clear plastic was so damaged - I had to remove it.

Sent mine in mid April. Still waiting. At least they confirmed that I am "in their system" when I called a couple weeks ago to follow up. No ETA, though

My experience is identical. I sent my rebate form in late May and received my 5 titles today (7/16/07) - a six or seven week wait. Maybe my choice of titles made my turnaround go quickly:

Blazing Saddles
Casablanca
U-571 *
Apollo 13 *
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

* UPC was gouged as though run through a machine, but the damage is minor, limited to the back, and though it cut through part of the plastic sleeve it barely harmed the paper insert, so I'll just buy a couple of replacement HD DVD cases and that will freshen them up nicely.

I'm very pleased. The limited selections made me compromise on titles and the gouging was an irritation - but the price was right.

The 5 I got after the 2 month wait were U 571, Rundown, Tomb Raider, Constatine, Apollo 13. I had all except Constatine on SDVD anyway so the wait didn't matter too much. Besides, at an average retail price of $25 each I saved $125. Couple that with the fact that my A2 only cost me $13 and some change after cashing in my Amex reward points I figure I've actually made $112 by going HD DVD!

HD DVD = 64
Blu-Ray = 171
Blu-Ray 3D = 10
SDVD = 585
