I was adding HD-DVDs for the 3 for 2 deal at Amazon. I had a HD-A2 in my cart while I checked out the promotion. And not only I got the promotion of $27 off for the one free title, I only got the 3 free HD-DVDs promotion. So the end cost is only around $210 for a HD-A2 plus three combo HD-DVDs (with 5 more after rebate).

I just caved in and went for this deal. I was going to wait for the A3 or A30, but at this price + 8 free movies, I couldn't resist. It looks like the price might fluctuate based on the movies you add. I added 300 and my total went up $8 higher, but the player was still below Amazon's listed price.

Did you go to the order confirmation page? Did you add the items I listed?

It's still showing $210 for me..

All 3 HD DVD's have to be from the eligible list from the following post. If you add
3 combos from this list, you will get the full $27.95 discount off of the $238.

Awesome! I want to jump in but am new to HD DVD. Am I going to be happy with the A2 and not one of the players with the Reon processor? Also, is there any lag time with the system (e.g. start up and menu speed). Thanks!

This is weird. I did those exact same 3 movies, get all the way to the CC auth page (dont do it) but I do not get 210. Still a great deal no less, but.

Mine came out to $218.93. Must have been because of The Last Samurai, which was shown on one of the pages... It's not worth complaining over $8.93 to me.

300
The Last Samurai
The Mummy

I had the A2, and was not 100% impressed with it. (granted for that great of a deal, I would not pass it up, you should be happy with it)
Already have the XA1 (it is great)

Also have the Samsung BD-P1200, and it to, is great. (specially for SD movies)

I have no system or life, Please give me yours ;)

You can also stack it with the XA2. with three of the $19.95 titles it comes to $564 (not bad considering no tax and free shipping). I'm still can't decide if I want to get the XA2 or wait for the A35....

Thats what I keep saying until I found the XA2 at BB for 499.00 then I get home 30 minutes later and find the the Amazon deal 589.00 with 3 movies for the XA2.But I will just keep it to much hassle to take back and wait two weeks for my money from BB.

Man I 'am going to get shot for this.

This is the best deal ever on an HD-DVD player. Too bad I already bought several for gifts a couple months back. Anyone on the fence should really think about this.

My TV has only 2 HDMI inputs so I plan on using the components out of the Dish 622 will it degrade the HD picture much.My TV is a Panasonic TH-50PX600U
Will use this until the wife gets over the 2 HD players and lets me get a new receiver.
Just ordered The Bourne Supremacy,King Kong,Batman Begins,Serenity from Amazon. Will wait a few days before I order the free ones.

Now THATs one heck of a tempting offer. Almost got me to sell off my A1 and order on of these, but I think i'll just wait and see what the A3 offers.

Thanks for the info! I will probably pounce on this. Since I only have a 720p HDTV, I thought this model would be fine, but don't want to have buyers remorse if I could have waited a little longer for something better. Why may I ask weren't you 100% impressed?

Just placed an order for an XA2 with the following

TMNT combo
Departed
300

Total price was $553.64 after all the discounts.

Also put the HD-A2 in my cart, and it showed up as $202. Man, this is a killer deal.

I'm in the same boat...but I think I'll hold on to my A1 a bit longer. Definitely need to upgrade my receiver first.

You are 100% perfect to use component video out of your Dish HD STB. 100% perfect. Do not spend a dime on anything other than that receive you want and maybe a great remote like the MX900 or new 810, unless you don't want your wife to embrace your system.

Enjoy.
