Q1. What does this update do?

A1. This firmware update adds support for 1080p/24Hz output and for more on-screen language display options. In addition, this firmware update improves network connectivity for supporting the download of web- enabled network content associated with certain HD DVD discs, and also addresses certain disc playback and HDMI/DVI related issues identified by Toshiba.

This better correct the BTB/WTW and colorspace issues over HDMI.

So it says the A2 is an applicable model, but only mentions the 1080p models in the details. Should A2 users get this?

Has anyone else been able to download the ISO? When I get to the appropriate page, select HD-XA2 and click "Download Firmware File" it simply takes me to a default Toshiba page (even though the URL listed shows it supposed to be downloading a ZIP file).

?????

Would sure like to see my issue resolved with Happy Feet Combo HD DVD locking up at the 28 minute mark nearly every time, that I've seen hundreds of others had as well.. Never had any playback issue on the 360 with that disc, yet the A2 locks up at that point all the time! My other 107 HD DVD's play flawlessly :P

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but will the added support for 1080p24 output have any effect (positive or negative) if it the display only supports 1080p60?

Go ahead, take a Chill Pill.

I'm updating over the internet as we speak. After it's done, I'll test my A2 for BTB over HDMI->DVI and report back.

Well, although there appears to be a FW 2.5 ISO coming out for the A2 as well, it isn't available yet. Still, the XA2 and A20 DO now get the 24p update plus the ability to select between Studio-RGB and PC-RGB output.

I've tried connecting with both my XA2 and A20 and in both cases it says "software already updated" (I'm running 2.2). Must not be online yet?

Does that mean the A2 won't have the RGB level setting? That stinks, if that's true...

I'll hopefully be able to answer my own question in about 10 minutes, when my player is done updating...

It's not up yet:
The software has already been updated.
The update process will end.

Maybe later.

Sounds like the first to get it will be the ones doing ISO burns.

Woops...I only just updated mine to 2.2 (I had 2.1 until today). I guess I don't have 2.5 either.

And is it also for the A20?

The HDMI on the A20 is not version 1.3, it is 1.2 so it won't be able to pass bitstream data for TrueHD and DTS-HD.
