of the A2's? If there are really 2,000,000 floating out there tomorrow to get picked up, this is gigantic.

Walmart has ~4000 in the US. This sale is limited to (10) per store ? That's only 40,000 units.... That's a LOT extra to sit on.

Is there some link to 10 per store?

Here to help and learn. Thanks AVS.

If that's what you need to believe.

According to Wal-mart (they should know, right?):

O'Brien said rumors that each Wal-Mart store would stock only 18 units of the Toshiba player were false. There are no limited quantities for stores or purchases.

Maybe this is just the start to some even bigger than the $99 player.

Maybe they will give them away for free. I mean really they already are 5 free mail in movies at $20 each is $100.

Maybe this black Friday they will have the A3 free if you buy ANY 5 HD-DVD movies?
How cool would that be?

Toshiba would not make any money on this other than what they get from each movie sold but hey it would move a lot of players lol

I don't think it's possible because Toshiba would not take that much of a loss but that would for sure sum up the war

I am just trying to think what else can they do that will sell a lot of players once these A2's are all gone. Unless Walmart really did buy a crap load of them.

Read the ZD story link above, we're talking about *2 million* players.

I talked w/ an assitant mgr. at my local WM supercenter, and he told me that the 99$ a2 would have only 20 units/day, w/ an additional 20/day for the next 2 days at the same price. Store is located in Huntington, WV. So if our small market gets 60 units...those numbers will def. not work out, should be a bunch more.

Will the still be at the $99 sale price all three days? In other words it is not just a Friday sale?

Thanks.

First, did you fail to notice the question mark ? Second, it was posted in this thread, hence what I was referring to, that it was (10) units per store. I don't know, nor care, if it's accurate or not.

Here is a quote from a CNBC article that was updated 6 hrs ago:

"And another rough issue for Sony, backing Blu-ray, which still has some key partners in Disney, 20th Century Fox and Lions Gate. HD-DVD enjoys Paramount, Dreamworks and Time Warner . This is about momentum, just as it is with Sony's Playstation. And once again, Microsoft and the HD-DVD folks have it. And Sony's looking for a way to re-capture it."

Notice how he did not say that Warner is a part of BD and only for HD DVD? I know it could be an oversight but maybe that is a hint to something that we all thought would happen but it just hasn't been officially announced yet. Or I am completely nuts

Here is the full article http://www.cnbc.com/id/21581845
