I moved from 360 add-on to the HD-A12 via WW sale. It still resulted in a new member to the HD DVD buying public in the form of my brother-in-law that inherited my add-on.

I bought my $200 HD DVD player (A3) on Sunday from BB. I'm super happy with the purchase. Even through componet (HDMI in mail) it looks better than anything I've seen. Even my wife, who could give a crap, says it looks fantastic! 10 free HD DVDs plus an A3 for $200...I feel like I stole from BB =)

I'm new to HD DVD. I started HD with HDTV. Channels like ESPN and Discovery look amazing in 1080i HD. After watching TV that way, I had big hopes for HD DVD. Blue ray wasn't even something I considered because of their prices.

After 2 SD DVDs and one HD DVD, I have to say that I am very impressed with the A2. I can't wait to starting building my HD DVD collection now.

Absolutely not. The only way I'll spend $30 on a release is if it's something like the 5-disc Blade Runner set. I got a couple of free movies from Best Buy, along with the two already in the A3's box, then there're the five coming from Toshiba. Beyond that, I will just rent nearly everything from Netflix. If it's a movie I really want to own, I will buy if the price is under $20, preferably around $15. I can wait the high prices out. They will no doubt be dropping in price fairly soon.

And I will avoid buying combo discs due to the increased prices and decreased reliability. The only problem I've had with my player so far has been on a combo disc. It has to be because of the double-sided, dual-layer production. Same thing with my regular DVDs. I've only experienced problems with Universal's DVD-18 TV series discs.

Like many here it took the sale to get me off the fence. Movies at $30 bucks a pop is not real motivating but I still bought Transformers at that price. Get them down to the $20 dollar range as a normal price and things may begin to spring to life. This comes from someone with over 2,000 dvds in my collection so it's not like I'm opposed to buying.
