Wonder what that means for ONKYOs?

I'm sick. I wouldn't mind picking up on ONKYO and an XA1 just to have a complete collection of higher end units.

I have an XA2, A1, A35. I really should be set up for a while.

Ah, crap. I guess I'll be getting one from Amazon today before they all disappear. I don't mind paying the $230, but I really wanted to get one at the $149 price. I just noticed that BB's website shows all models as sold out.

Circuit City no longer lists the A35 on their website. Just the A3 and A30

Looks like Newegg.com still shows A3, A30, A35 in stock - all a bit pricier than Amazon currently. But -- still available .....

Folks should probably check their B&M stores regularly for returned units. The A30 I scored at Best Buy yesterday was from a customer that bought 4 tvs and 3 A3's/1 A30. He found out HD-DVD was dead so returned all the players.

Does anyone have any of the new $15 off of a $100 purchase coupon codes available? I picked up an A-30 a 3-4 days ago and they gave me one that expired on 2-25. I believe I have read that CC has issued new codes expiring on 3/31.

I know these are generally available at the store. I have seen alot of people selling them on Craiglist and eBay stating that they have new codes that expire on 3/31, but don't want to go through the hassle (and maybe principal?) of going that route.

If anyone had a an extra coupon code for this deal, I would be very grateful.

Thanks alot!

I was lucky enough to get the last A30 in Tulsa from BB yesterday. Really wanted an A35 for the 5.1 out but missed the Magnolia display unit by 15 minutes, it had only been out of the box for 3 weeks and hadn't even been hooked up to anything.

One Circut City in Greenville, SC had a shelf full of A30's last night around 7 PM. The other local store had both the A3 and the A30. Neither store nor BB ever carried the A35

Grab'd me a A35 from Fry's last night. I called ahead and had someone hold it for me. It was a 33 mile drive oneway. The A35 will be in my HT and the RCA will move to my Family room. I've always wanted a A35 just didn't want to pay the high price.

I'm loading up on those HD-DVD movies I've wanted too, ordered 3 from deepdiscount. $10 each with free shipping, wow.

I don't feel it does although acknowledge under close scrutiny and partnered with the right display, subjecitvely you might favor the picture compared to others. Still not enough to spend more for this player in a routine 7 pound case but package it in 14 pounds metal and those who are getting their first taste of a beefy DVD player are going to see these differences as larger than they are due to the ol' placebo effect. I personally like this player under $300 for the simple fact that even though I prefer ABT to Reon, it is still high end specs at low price, you won't find anything like it for under $300. Over $300 and it doesn't look as good.

Thanks for the insight. How does the A35 compare to the XA2 in terms of quality? Is it worth seeking out one over the other?

Could it be the density of the population in metro areas maybe? Hum...

Just added an A30 to the stable, $115 at CC with the $15 off coupon. Doing a goggle search today it looks like prices are heading up, not down.

Stable: A1, A2, A30, A35 and XA2. Looking for a bargain Onk 805.

Well, I suppose they could have let me order one and go all the way thru checkout without having any in stock, but I think that's highly unlikely. I haven't gotten a shipping notification yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe I got the last one.

How I found it... Yesterday I was poking around Amazon, searching on the complete Toshiba HD player line, and I noticed after scrolling all the way to the end of the page, a featured dealer link was listed as having XA2s. The featured dealer was Refurb Depot. I immediately jumped to the link and sure enough, the XA2 was shown. I hesitated at first on buying immediately, but did end up placing an order this morning. I'm hoping it's in excellent shape and hasn't been beat up to bad. I keep most of my equipment like new. Unfortunately, their site doesn't show inventory levels like uBid and Amazon do, or least not that I can tell anywhere. Now I have a pristine A3 if anyone wants one for cheap $$. PM me.

Try this link at RD.
Edit: They do state 1-3 business days for availability.

Hit up both stores now and nothing nathan nada. The manager confirmed what the district manager told me over the phone, plus they even called around to stores in baltimore, and No. VA. Nothing nowhere, and they will not be restocking. I even asked for the slight chance of a display model and they don't even have one anymore. HD is Dead and Gone at Best Buy.

Where are you at?

BB inventory was a joke here in DFW to run that sale.

CC has not carried the A35 in store in a while.

Fry's sale sold about 50 units in 3 days from the inventory I found.

I managed to get 3 - 2 at Fry's and one at CC online.

Most people that I know into HD are trying hard too but have tough luck.

After looking and phone calls all over...I finally just said screw it...With all the time and effort I put in to finding a cheap one...I could have bought a pricer one and been done with it...So I just decided to be happy (and I am...Very...) with my $122 A30...The audio using the Toslink is just fine with me...I think it sounds excellent and everything else is the same so it really is not worth it to me to spend an additional $75-$150 just for 5.1 audio that doesn't even play SACD or DVD-A...I'm set...

Update for San Diego people:

Just stopped by Fry's in San Marcos. They had one floor model HD-A35 left, but when I asked the guy he told me to hang on a minute. Came back a minute later with a new boxed HD-A35 He said he was holding it for himself, but decided to give it to me instead. That was really cool of him I wish I got his name, but whomever he was - thank you! The cost was $150 for the HD-A35.

So the San Marcos Fry's has one floor model in the A/V room. The guy said they would sell it if someone wanted it. They do have 2 boxed A-3's for $80 too! And one floor model

Also checked the Best Buy in San Marcos - they had 3 boxed A-3's for $99, a couple of A-30's for $130 (I think) and one floor model A-35 for $150.

FYI

If you're searching at any of the Fry's B&M, be sure to check around their Toshiba HD-DVD display (including overhead bins and such).

I believe North Houston has one A35 right under the display (300/BI). I believe they also have a floor model XA2, but I'm not sure if it's for sale.

Thanks for the tip for everyone - I did that too. In my Fry's they had the A2 as the demo model but no boxes underneath the display
