This one is beautiful. It preserves the cinema look or "film look". Very sharp and detailed. Grain is intact not brushed away. The indoor shots of the cafe are my favorite scenes. Lots of things happening at once. Unlike the Laserdisc (I used to own) and the 2-disc DVD where I don't pay attention to the backround because its just too blurry, this time everything is clear and discernable. The plants, the lights, the guests, the table covers now have fine textures visible.

Ingrid Bergman is so pretty

I love to show the first appearance of Rick, seen approving a check. The detail visible in the check is breathtaking!

Xylon,

How about some shots with Ingrid Bergman in them?

This one does look great, and is a great movie also.

You'll want to take a look some time at Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I probably haven't seen this film in 40 years (honest) but still have her song in my head ("You should see me dance the Polka, you should see me cover the ground..."). She was a stunner.

Another top notch Warner's offering on HD DVD. I too was just watching this a couple nights ago. Still have it in the player to finish listening to the commentaries and some of the bonus stuff. A pity The Longest Day doesn't look this good.

The screenshots do indeed look good. Not bad for a 66 year old film(!). The only question I have is that EE in the first shot?

I think he's talking about what looks like forcefields around the soldiers legs. It definitely looks like some form of edge enhancement was used.

Weird only on the legs? How about the edges of everything on that scene?

The cameralenses can give an effect like that. EE should be apperent over the entire image.
