I don't feel it is wise to 'insure' my current working HD collection w/ the equivalent BR. But it is more wise to 'upgrade' w/ stuff I don't have.

That is alot of work to save $4-5 at most. Many of these are available on the Amazon B2G1 free sale which puts the cost at about $13.

Yeah - that's my point (to myself @ least).

Worked this out several different ways & unless you are really paranoid that your HD box/disc will break or your original HD costs were substantially below the 'insurance' prices, this is no way a good deal for the work involved.

Most of us with any substantial HD collection had already bought - per disc - in the <$10 range. So any replacement upgrade is an addl ~$5 on top of those costs.
A price I am unwilling to pay for 'sales' BD much less any other movie.

I sent in mine yesterday for Planet Earth. The website clearly shows the picture for "Planet Earth: The Complete BBC Series" and the title underneath shows "Planet Earth: The Complete..." After I sent in my covers yesterday I got scared that I might in fact receive the US Discovery Channel version which I do not want!

I did call R2B customer service and the CS rep did not sound 100% confident in her answer that I would receive the BBC version but did say that I would receive as shown on the R2B site. And she didn't think there would be any returns allowed if I was unhappy.

Question - Can WB only send the BBC version or do they have rights to the Discovery Channel version ?

It is interesting to read some of the different opinions being placed not only in this forum but the blu side as well. What I can't figure out is some folks excitement that they're trading for something with the magic coating since apparently HD dvd scratch easily.

If someone is letting their dvds no matter what format get scratched that easy (not counting buying already used) they need to get out of this hobby anyway.

I, for one, can't see the point of this trade-in program. As a collector with literally hundreds of titles, I certainly won't start trading in my discs for another format that really has no appreciable difference in sound and picture quality. I can see some poeple with a small collection doing so perhaps... but to those folks I say "Hang on to your discs! Although they might not be worth a tremendous amout in ther future they will always be collectors items". As a collector of CEDs, laserdiscs, and D-VHS tapes, I can attest that there's nothing like seeing your friends' amazed looks at those "weird" things.

The price for a new copy from them is now $17.99 but it is out of stock. They almost always get more so if you want another one keep an eye out. I don't care about the back piece of paper so I will just trade that for a blu copy, and keep my HD DVD too.

Yep, now I'll have both. I can print a copy of the HD-DVD artwork that looks just like the original.

It's pretty clear from the red2blu website that it's the BBC version. The Discovery version has completely different artwork.

Not a bad upgrade on some titles but a downgrade on others.

300, Blood Diamond, Harry Potter films lacking IME or PIP
Phantom of the Opera, Happy Feet lacking True HD

I have already seen a lot of folks trying to sell their disc collections with photocopied covers. Dang people move fast!

Now my question is, are there people out there who still want to buy these things? I have about 30 HD-DVDs and I wouldn't mind selling them but I can't get $5 each and that is with new covers, since folks can buy them for $1.99 and such on various closeout sites.

Now maybe I could dump my whole collection of 30 if I was willing to sell them for $1.99 each (and maybe I couldn't even sell them for that low!) but it just isn't worth my time for that little. I would rather keep them.

Of course I am the same fool who bought over 100 LD's in the early 90's for about $30 each and sold all 100 for about $200 total in 2003. I sense a theme here, something about those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

The site lists the Matrix but this title was never available as a stand alone was it. I thought it only came in the Matrix Ultimate collection.

just got this email re: my missing piece of paper from my matrix boxed set:

Hello Chris,

Thank you for contacting Red2Blu!

In the collection is a disk titled "Matrix Revolutions", please remove the artwork from this title and send that in for your exchange in lieu of the page with the UPC.

I hope this information has been helpful

Warm Regards,

I try not to judge a book by its cover but most of us hobbyists here wouldn't pay more than a buck for those each.

I knew it was only a matter of time.

I decided this upgrade is not worth it for me,when my XA2 breaks I can always buy a used BD or rent it.
