I just started revisiting Battlestar Galactica Season 1. I'm too cheap to rebuy it on blu ray.

The Last Samurai. Wouldn't play all the way through without issues. Replaced with a BD. First time I've had to do that. Only other BD replacement I've done is Casablanca for the deluxe box set.

I watched Assault on Precinct 13 a couple weeks ago. I dunno, although I've committed to Blu-ray (lots of discs and Oppo 93), every time I put in an HD-DVD, I can't help but think that the wrong format won. smile.gif

Still have dozen or so "shrinkwrapped" HD's to watch (out of nearly 200), started to give up on them as both my A30 and A35 would freeze up toward the end of ANY disc I played.

Well my "new" XA2 solved that (EVERYTHING that was said on this unit PQ, AQ, and build is TRUE).

Just watched "Trading Places" with Eddie Murphy, Dan Ackroyd , and a very yummy Jaime Lee Curtis. Classic 80's comedy with more language and nudity than I remember (hence the R rating), but it looked awesome and sounding pretty decent for the age. NO film grain and only occasionally, the picture looked a little off. (this is on my 46" Sony LCD) . I would rank this up with one of the best PQ in my collection. I watched Eddie's followup "Coming to America" years back and I remember it looked very good as well, these are both Paramount discs.

Still have 3 players hooked up and always look forward to HDDVD movie night.

Trying to go through my entire collection looking for "coasters" has reopened my eyes to my HD collection. Recent viewings include:

Excalibur
Superman II, Richard Donner Cut
Blade Runner, Final Cut
2001
V for Vendetta

too many movies, so little time.

Living the HT Dream...now in 4D.

A milestone . . .
We watched "Scary Movie 4" on HD-DVD yesterday. It played perfectly and was just as silly a movie as the rest of the Scary Movies.
This is the last of the never been watched HD-DVDs in my collection.

Update: fired up "Bourne Identity" yesterday. What a terrific film and it played perfectly.

Another update: another day, another Bourne flick on HD-DVD = "The Bourne Supremacy" = a non-stop action flick with excellent PQ & AQ.

"Bourne Ultimatum" was also loaded with action, although some parts were a bit repetitive to scenes & themes in the 1st 2 films. Great pq & aq and this combo disc played just fine.

Watched Chronicles of Riddick. Love this disk! I know Vin Diesel is generally lame, but I like this flick.

"Lens him and cleanse him!" ... love it!

I just finished ripping my 62 HD DVDs so I can stream them across my network. I watched Stardust last night with my wife. It was nice to be able to watch in another location in the house.

I used the trial version of Anydvd HD. They give you 21 days to try it out so I just decided to rip my entire HD DVD library. Once ripped I ran each of them through trial version of Makemkv allowing me to trim foreign languages, subtitles, special features, etc. Streaming to WD TV Live. I was able to stream to the DVD player but it wasn't able to process the files directly putting a strain on my pc. Found the WD TV Live to be what I needed.

Ive thought about doing this too, just to make sure I have backups in case my players die. Might have to dig up the xbox external player and start ripping. what was the average file size after ripping and converting?

I forgot to add that I used my son's Xbox 360 HD DVD drive as my transport. Just plugged into my USB port on pc and and started ripping. Average size of file when all is said and done is about 15-16 GB. I have 61 movies on a 3 TB external drive and it still shows 1.71 TB available. Good luck!

DVDFab Passkey can handle HD-DVDs also - and it's free in the "Lite" version (which is really all you need).

My son is a HUGE Fast and Furious fan. He actually took on of my spare players (A30) to his buddies and set it up so they can watch (at least the first 2-the Drift one really is NOT part of the series). I really liked the second one for brainless fun. great transfer and awesome DD+ sound.

I watched Knocked Up last week, first time I had the DD+ come up on my Onkyo AVR (of course had 3/4 of the movie running in DD, toggled through the audio choices and it came up last). Forgot what a goofy movie that was, and of course, looked really good.
