That's long been rumored to be coming out later this year(presumably day-and-date). Now if only WB could release a good-looking HD-DVD for Heat.

"Miami Vice" is the "Heat" of 2006! Great movie, superb action! But of course, I still want "Heat"!

Maimi Vice sucked and bombed at the theaters.

Now sure how great it will be in HD since the film was overly grainy to produce a rough look. I don't mind film grain but the movie was over done. The night scenes were downright horrible.

I betcha they'll release Heat at the same time as Miami Vice a la Charlie/Willy.

Time to make a decision, which format to choose is slowly running out in Europe. About a month till the Blu-Ray launch and HD-DVD launches in two.
I´m still not 100% certain.

On the other hand: If the Xbox 360 external HD-DVD drive comes out soon in Europe for under 250 Euros, I won´t have to think twice.

I´m from Austria so ignore bad spelling and grammar, please. :)

It really suffered from bad story/plotlines. BUT the action scenes are AWESOME. Can anyone do action scenes like Michael Mann?!?

His films are intentionally grainy, so I suspect that an upconverted sd dvd will look close to the hd version. BUT, maybe it will include a TruHD soundtrack and some hd extras.

Its michael mann, so ill definately pick up the hd version here in the states no matter what.

yeah it seems that this year is full of movies that have great action but absolute horrible scripts or are horrible cut.

like miami vice, mission impossible 3, Poseidon. all movies that are like MTV video clips.

but without a doubt Miami Vice was teh most horrible movie released this year. i couldnt stand it. the acting , the script it is so bad.

and yes i vote for HEAT on HD-DVD, or blu-ray as long i got that movie in high def with great sound and great picture :)

Wow. Some harsh critics for Miami Vice here. Personally, I liked it a lot. I thought the feel of the film was superb (Mann's films always hit an emotional note) and I thought the script and acting was excellent. Far better than most of what I saw this summer.

As for the look of the film, Mann used the Viper HD camera again and it shows. The darker scenes were grainy (like Collateral) and the brighter scenes looked INCREDIBLE. I saw this in a D-Cinema with a 2K projector and my jaw was on the floor several times. This should have some incredible eye candy on HD DVD. Personally I am looking forward to this film on HD DVD more than any other this year!!

Even though I didnt care for the story/acting (except Foxx), I am also really looking forward to it. It seems like one of those films that I would enjoy more at home.

The action scenes are truly gonna be amazing! I should have my sammy 71in dlp up and running by then too!

I sometimes pop in Collateral and just watch the club scene by itself. Even on sd, it looks and sounds great! It gives my sub a workout.
