I just visited Amazon, and the #1 Blu-Ray Movie for this format is Click which is coming in at 5,225 place on ALL DVD Titles. :p You have to go to HD-DVD's 44th selling movie slot to find this formats movie selling less copies. That means there are 43 HD-DVD movie that are outselling Blu-Rays #1 selling movie. Man if this continues, this war is over before it really ever started. :D  !!!

This is great news for Blu-ray!

heheeheh

Actually, Sony's UMDs are selling at a better clip than BR right now!! Check out the bestseller's for UMD:

#1 Xmen 3 -- #2,148
#2 Pirates 2 -- #6,894

Blu-ray:

#1 Click -- #4,154
#2 Tears of the Sun -- #4,706

It's close!

While I believe it's foolish to think sales figures for both formats will remain consistent with how they are now, it doesn't take a genius to realize that HD DVD is by far the hotter format right now. :)

HDDVD is the new Blu-Ray? (yes I liked the movie) and since everyone last year was Pro-BD my statement seems correct :)

i still dont get it, why would you buy a ps3 to watch movies?. maybe you guys can afford it but take a kid wanting mom and dad to buy a ps3, not likely! and even if they do they will hook it up to a sd tv,480i and thats as far as it goes! no, blu-ray is going to have to win this so called war with stand alone players, hooked up to hdtvs. also anyone who knows anything about busness, will tell you 2 formats cant coexist in the market place. for some reason gaming units can coexist but stand alone pplayers cant.so if sony and you bluray flyboys are counting on the ps3 to save blu-ray you need to seek help.

It seems to me that the movie lovers have made their decision--HD DVD. While the PS3 might be popular and sell BR discs, a lot of these will be plugged into SDTVs. There's a reason why the attach rate on HD DVDs is so high!! And the next-gen optical HD format is really about movies!!

Click is not even on sale until October the 10TH.
I'm not a BD fanboy but if you are going to compare sales of something I think you should compare sales of something that IS FOR SALE.

The only problem Blu-ray has had in this war is that HD DVD for the most part looks great. If Blu-ray existed in a vacuum or if HD DVDs had lots of flaws, then Blu-ray would still be the most popular format on this forum. The point is that HD DVDs look great without the "better" specs that Blu-ray keeps touting. And the poor quality of the initial Blu-ray titles really pushed a lot of us over the edge to buy HD DVD.

Well forgive HD-DVD for looking so great.

Or maybe we should forgive Blu-Ray for looking so bad. :p

You want have to worry about sales rankings to much longer Blu-Ray fan boy. When Lionsgate and Disney start selling HD-DVD next year, (and they are) Blur-Ray will only be a memory, and a bad one at that. :D

Another nail in the coffin for HD DVD.

Seriously, though. This is 1 reseller. Blu-Ray gets far more B&M exposure than HD DVD so you can't just take 1 place and declare a winner.

Places like CC have their HD DVD blended in with DVD and Blu-Ray on endcaps and standees and stuff. I'm sure they outsell 5:1 there.

Don't go format neutral. Your wallet will thank you.

Yeah but everytime I go into CC and ask how many BR players they are selling they always tell me they arent selling well. Now they have started selling hddvd titles after they were "exclusively" BR. They are in business to make a profit after all and if hddvd is selling and BR isnt then the business decision is clear.

The only company which will continue to support the poorly selling format exclusively is Sony, otherwise they have to admit defeat.

Uh....hmmm....let me see if I understand you correctly. Basically, you're saying that the only reason that HD-DVD is outselling BD is because it's atually turned out to be the better of the two formats?

Well, yeah, I guess that COULD be the reason!

Good thing you posted this thread here at HD DVD section instead of Blu ray because if you

do they will call you a troll including one of the MODS and will delete your posts.

Blu ray fanboys can't take a jest. So be careful you might just get banned because of it.

Oh so we're just making up numbers now are we? Have anything concrete that can back that up? Because if you don't, pulling numbers out of thin air like that just looks...desperate. I don't care if you support BD, I really don't. But don't come in hear and blindly bash HD DVD and spout off BS just to try and make your struggling format look better. If you have hard facts to back you up, then go for it. And like it or not, the Amazon numbers are a cold, hard fact buddy. Take it like a man and move along.
