I haven't ordered any HD DVDs yet from Amazon, so I'm curious. In order to receive 10% off HD DVD purchases for the next year, do we have until 12/29 to order 3 HD DVDs, or can we wait until January to order 3 and still take advantage of the promotion? If we have to buy them this year I may have to order 3 next week!
With any promotion, Amazon put in the qualifier of "Promotional offer valid for a limited time only." This would allow them to pull it at anytime without notice. BUT, one would assume since HD resolution software hasn't been avaiable for even a year that they wouldn't pull the "year long discount" only 8 months into it.
Edit: The clause also allows Amazon to extend the promotion Which I got the same email saying it would go through the end of calendar end. So appox. 20 months of a 10% discount is a nice thing.
Hello from Amazon.com. We had recently enrolled you in our 10% off on HD DVD and Blu-ray disc purchases for one year promotion, and we hope you are enjoying this exclusive offer. Due to the overwhelming popularity of this promotion, we have extended the 10% sale offer through December 31, 2007.
Although you won't see any promotional messaging on our Web site, the discount will continue to be automatically applied to qualifying orders through 2007. Please note that it may take up to 72 hours for the 10% discount to be active on newly released DVDs. If you are purchasing a newly released DVD and don't see the discount, please try again in 2-3 days.
Very nice, and a good way to keep people from going elsewhere.
Oh, okay, so this is essentially a way of simplifying it by applying the discount to eligible customers through the end of the year, saving them from having to keep track of the inital date for each account.
