Looking for a site to get Reign of Fire Japanese import for a reasonable rate. I've found a few around $50 which seems high to me.

Any ideas?

i e-mailed Tony from Xploited Cinema about it last week and he said they should be getting some in next week. No idea on the price though.

Xploited Cinema is a sweet site! I just ordered "Basic Instinct" HD DVD for $20.00 less than ordering straight from Europe! Plus the shipping options to Canada are really decent in price too! Way better than other sites. I just hope the transaction goes smooth, if all goes well, should have it by the end of the week.

I just pre-ordered the BD version. If it was available here in the US on HD DVD I would get it but it's under $21 for the BD version so that makes more sense than twice that amount to get the HD DVD from overseas. This is the only situation where I will get the BD version over the HD DVD version.

I wish Amazon's 10% discount plan applied to BluRay discs also.

Edit: Oh. I put in more discs in the cart and they got the discount applied. Maybe they haven't updated the system yet.

The HD-DVD is uncut/longer/Euro version, the BD isn't.

Hmmm. I didn't know that. I assume the BD disc is the same as the R1 DVD.

I just looked. The R1 DVD and Blu-Ray are 102 minutes and the HD-DVD is 103 minutes. What, if anything, important is missing in the shorter version?

Anyone who received Reign of Fire HD-DVD...

Is everything in English? Meaning the main menu of the disk, titles, credits etc?

I've read in other threads that English is the default language and the subtitles can be turned off.

The menus are in japanese, but they're no trouble navigating. And of course the audio is in english and the subs are removable, so there's no trouble with it if you don't speak japanese.

I decided it was cheaper to just order the BD version. Hopefully it will look the same as the HD DVD. Although if the HD DVD version was offered here in the US, I would have purchased that one before the BD version. For under $22 shipped I guess I can't complain.

Please..someone tell us what the uncut footage is. I can't find any info on it. I'm in the same boat...i would by the HD version but the Blu Ray is coming out soon. If the uncut stuff is rad I'll go for that one. Thanks in advance.

I was curious about after the movie starts. I like to see the title in English. It won't stop me from buying the movie, though. I just wanted to know what I was buying into.

How does the Reign of Fire HD DVD look vs Blu-Ray? Are they identical?

I have the HD DVD and agree that it looks wonderful and sounds great as well. Haven't seen the BD though. I paid less for the HD than the BD sells for (not sure what teh guy was thinking who sold it to me) so I get the best of both worlds

is there a list anywhere of import HD DVDs which have superior picture quality to their domestic blu-ray counterparts? Like i know the HD DVDs of the Underworld movies look better than the blu-ray versions.

There isn't a list per se, but if you read the import sticky above, you'll find that most of the HD DVDs looked better.
